Nick was very slick pretending to tie his shoe, but was really getting Jordan’s ring so that he could propose to her! We had such a fun day with them – we even got to meet their wonderful families afterwards for a champagne toast.
From Nick:Jordan and I met 2012 in Choir at High Point University. We quickly became friends and started dating at the end of my senior year of college. Jordan was still in college at that time. We knew long distance would be a challenge but when you love someone enough anything is possible. We spent every minute we had free to travel to each other together. I am a police officer in Ohio and Jordan is a 2nd semester medical school student. I love Jordan because she makes me such a better person. I proposed to Jordan at Disney because we have been there many times together over our 4.5 years of dating and it’s a special place full of amazing memories for us! I told Jordan I wanted to walk around the Boardwalk at Disney before we had dinner at Il Mulino. After walking around for a while, I told her I had to tie my shoe. When she turned around I was down on one knee asking her to marry me. She said YES and we can’t wait to start our life together!
And a surprise message for Nick from Jordan, she wanted him to read it here:Nick is the man that every girl dreams of marrying. From day one he has treated me like a princess so proposing to me at Disney could not have been a more perfect place. He makes me laugh and he is always there for me. He has the kindest heart of anyone I’ve ever met. We are so blessed to have found each other and that God placed us in each other’s lives. We can’t wait for our future together! I’m so thankful that Nick hired The Canovas Photography to capture our special moment. He couldn’t have picked a better team! (Thank you! That means a lot. xo – Kelly)
It’s always so fun for us to help plan a proposal from a very-in-love-but-nervous guy in another state. We have secret codes, texts and emails. Brandon’s proposal to Crystal in front of Cinderella Castle is one of our favorites! It was perfect! Congratulations you two! xo
From Brandon: Crystal and I first met about 10 years ago in chemistry sophomore year of high school. We became good friends until we graduated where we fell out of touch with each other. 4 years ago we got back in touch and one thing led to another and we became a couple. We always have a great time together whether it’s going on little trips, visiting the zoo, walking the dog, or just watching TV on the couch. Words could not describe my feelings for her and how much I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her so I figured a grand proposal would do the trick. She always wanted to go to Disney and I have been there a few times myself. I knew it would catch her off guard and it would be magical for her since it is Disney after all. I was trying my hardest to find a way to capture the moment and when I found Kelly and Courtney online I was so relieved that they could help me out with just one week notice. I was a nervous wreck all day at the park waiting for that right time and it went seamlessly. They did an excellent job! (Aw thanks Brandon 🙂
From Crystal:Brandon and I met in high school. We were very close friends and would hang out all the time. College created some years of separation between us. When we reconnected, it was like no time passed at all! Our friendship turned into the relationship I always hoped it would! We have been dating four years now, and they have been nothing short of amazing. Every day and every year I just love Brandon more. I cannot wait to make more memories and a life together! I am lucky enough to have found the person who makes me laugh, supports me and loves me unconditionally!
It was a really rainy day, but that did not stop Ricky from asking Michelle to marry him! Big Disney fans, Michelle and Ricky got engaged at The Grand Floridan at Narcoossee’s restaurant. We were so happy to be a part of it. xo
From Ricky: Michelle and I went to rival high schools and were part of different social circles; she was a cheerleader and I was a band kid. We knew of each other but had never met. We met three years after high school at a local bar and quickly became close friends and started dating a little over a year later. I fell in love with her smile, laugh, sense of humor, thoughtfulness, kindness, beautiful eyes, and the list could honestly go on and on. I am very lucky she loves me back and that she fell in love with me for a lot of the same reasons I fell for her: my smile, laugh, kind heartedness, my compassion, and again another endless list of traits. After a short 24 hour trip to Disney World to see the last Wishes firework show I decided I wanted to propose to her in the happiest place on Earth. It was seeing how magical her first time going to the Magic Kingdom was and I knew it would be the perfect place to ask her. I spent two months before the proposal making reservations and gathering help from her friends and family planning how I was going to ask. I made a photobook of our relationship with her close friends and family writing something near the end. Of course at the end of the book I would ask her to marry me. I told her we were staying at All Star Movies when in reality we had reservations at Beach Club. Our first night there we had dinner at Narcoossee’s restaurant at the Grand Floridian. It was after dinner we went out onto the deck overlooking the Magic Kingdom and I showed her the book. When we arrived at the section where her family and friends had written she began to cry, realizing what was happening. At the end of the book I got down on one knee and she made a little squeak of excitement and nodded her head vigorously and said yes! We are hoping to have our wedding in either December of 2018 or early 2019.
Michael brought Ellie to Walt Disney World all the way from London to propose to her! We tried to surprise her – but she figured it out pretty quickly. We had a fun photo shoot with Cinderella Castle and fireworks in the background. Michael had it all planned, first dinner at Victoria and Albert’s, then a proposal right before dessert. I got a few shots back at the famous Kitchen Table. Congratulations you two! xo
The rain did not stop Nakiya and Eris from having a great engagement session last week! These Disney lovers are the nicest couple! We can not wait for their Disney Dream Cruise Wedding!
From Nakiya: Eris and I actually met online on a dating website. We had our first date at a movie and decided to make our second date the very next day! Fast forward, and we just celebrated our 3 year anniversary on a 4 night Disney Cruise to the Bahamas where we got engaged. We’re looking forward to planning our wedding on the ship the Disney Dream, where we got engaged. I am a huge Disney fan, which is why Eris chose to propose on the Disney Cruise. We travel to Disney World every year and have made so many special memories there so it only seems right to have a Disney wedding!
What I love most about Eris is his sense of humor and how we always have the time of our lives even when things don’t go as planned. Eris says that he loves my sense of adventure and determination. No matter what we’re doing we’re always laughing and having a good time.
We were really happy when Jordan called us and told us he wanted us to photograph his proposal to beautiful Laura. They were so sweet together – I think she was really surprised! After the proposal at the private balcony dinner at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, we walked through the beautiful lobby and captured some of their new happiness. Congratulations Jordan and Laura! <3
Their story from Jordan:Laura and I met freshman year of high school back in Michigan where we’re both from, and started dating only a year later. Our junior year of college we spent the spring in Florida with the Disney College Program, where we fell in love with the Disney parks and decided this was a place we would eventually like to move to. After dating for six years, we graduated this past spring and made the move to Florida. However, we spent the summer in different states- Laura moved to Florida first while I began a 3-month training for my new job. I used the time away to save for an engagement ring and proposal, and finally had enough to buy the ring I had my heart set on. During our private dinner at the Grand Floridian, I was able to finally ask her to be my wife, a question I had been wanting to ask her for years.
We thank God every day for bringing us into each other’s lives and couldn’t be happier that He did. We’re lucky enough to be each other’s first boy/girlfriend and still feel blessed to have found the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with so soon. We couldn’t be more excited for the wedding next summer and we’re so happy to have had Canovas Photography help capture our engagement and make the night one to remember.
We loved meeting Makayla and Steve for their engagement session last week. They are true Disney fans like us – and they met and used to work at Magic Kingdom! Spending time with them reminded us that “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” Thank you Malaya and Steve for including us in this magical day! xo If you are interested in a Magic Kingdom Engagement Photography session, please contact us today!
From Steve:We met on our very first day working at Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland. Everyday we grew closer, and built on a strong foundation of friendship. Over the course of our Disney College Programs you could find us together almost everyday, either in the Magic Kingdom, or watching How I Met Your Mother until late in the evening. At the end of our Disney College Programs we headed to the airport for a very difficult goodbye.
Makayla and I finally had to head back to our respective Universities (Penn State and the University of Utah) after an amazing 8 months of working together. After many hours on the phone, Skype, and FaceTime we realized we missed each other far too much, and that we needed to plan a vacation back to Walt Disney World. During that week we finally shared our true feelings with each other, and our amazing relationship began.
In the summer of 2016 I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be with Makayla, and her family. The summer we shared together proved to me why I loved her so much. The more time I spent with her the more certain I am that she is my soulmate.
We are now both graduated, happily engaged, and extremely excited for marriage. After living thousands of miles apart for so long Makayla and I are excited to be living in Orlando, the city we met in as we start our lives together.
Jackie and Jayson were so sweet together for their engagement photo shoot at Leu Gardens – Especially when they got near their beautiful new baby Jayden! We loved photographing this darling new family <3
From the couple: Our wedding will be at the Orlando Science Center on the rooftop overlooking the Orlando skyline. Jackie loves how Jayson is the most caring person she has ever met & such a sweetheart. Jayson loves how Jackie has such a beautiful heart & always puts her family first. They met three & half years ago online & have been best friends ever since.
When Jeff, a lawyer from Tallahassee, called me to ask if we would photograph his proposal to his beautiful girlfriend Brittany, also a lawyer, we were thrilled. We were even more excited to find out that the proposal would be on a private balcony at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. After a romantic dinner, Jeff got down on one knee and proposed right as the fireworks were shooting over the park. Brittany, of course, said yes. Thank you Jeff and Brittany for including us on this perfect evening! Disney Grand Floridian | Disney Proposal Photography | The Canovas ~ Contact us today for more information!
I love working with Courtney Hamill of Courtney Ford Event Design. She does such great work and I was thrilled when she called me to photograph Sarah and Rewny’s proposal! Sarah loves old trucks and Courtney set up the perfect romantic atmosphere for Rewny to propose, the bed of an old Dodge truck filled with pillows, roses and champagne. It was a beautiful night with market lights lighting up Artisan Alley in historic downtown DeLand. I love shooting proposal photography – I get to be there from the start xo

Their story in Sara’s words: Rewny and I are both from DeLand, and actually grew up around the corner from each other. However, Rewny was five years older, so I never knew him growing up, just knew of him. One of my close friends from high school, Haley, got engaged to Rewny’s brother, Nat. At the time, I was living in Jacksonville and was in my first year of law school at Florida Coastal. I went on Haley’s bachelorette cruise, where I met Rewny’s mom, Alice, and sister, Leah. After a few glasses of wine, and few days of getting to know each other, Leah and Alice suggested that Rewny and I should meet. According to Rewny, they came home from the cruise saying that he needed to meet me at the upcoming wedding. I was so nervous but also excited to meet him. After his best man speech, he came up to me introduced himself, and kissed my hand. We got to talking, and we automatically just clicked. I gave him my phone number, and the following week, we had our first date. He recently moved to Jacksonville for his job, so it was perfect. He cooked me pasta carbonara at his house, and we talked, and talked the whole night. When he walked me to my car, we had our first kiss. I remember immediately getting into the car and texting my best friend that I just had “my last first date.” Rewny has truly been my rock and best friend since the day I met him.
In September of 2013 my dad had a brain aneurysm, that left him in a coma with a long road of recovery ahead. Seeing Rewny cry beside my dad’s hospital bed was the moment I knew we would truly be together forever. Not only did he love me, he loved my family, and I wanted him to be my husband. My dad passed away in October of this year, by far the worst time in my life, yet Rewny was there every single step of the way. Before he passed, Rewny was able to ask my dad for his permission to ask me to marry him. My dad told him he would like that very much. Rewny’s birthday was the plan for the day to propose. I think he tried to think of a day that I would least expect. We were supposed to meet my mom at Dally in the Alley for dinner at 5:30. We parked on New York Avenue, and walked down the alley. There was an old red Dodge truck sitting at the end. I have this obsession with old trucks that I always talk about. I was completely clueless it was for me. Rewny said, “Wow that’s a cool truck” and I said, “Oh yeah it is, I wonder whose it is?” We got closer and he stopped in front of the truck. He began telling me how much he loved me, and that he had been lying to me about some things. When he walked me around to the bed of the truck it was decorated with candles and flowers, and I just completely lost it. He said, “I have a question I’ve been dying to ask you…Sarah Beth Zimmerman will you marry me?” At this point I was hysterically crying and said yes. There was banging on the windows from inside Dally, where my mom, sister, and Rewny’s parents were watching. We went in to Dally and had a wonderful dinner to celebrate. It was absolutely perfect, and to make it even more special, my dad was there in so many ways. I was wearing my dad’s ring that night on my wedding finger (the only finger it fit), so I had to take his ring off to put on my engagement ring. Also, Rewny was wearing one my dad’s shirts and the flowers were arranged in my dad’s old watering can. It was such a special night. Rewny is so good to me, and has already been there for me for better or for worse. I know God sent him to me at the perfect time, and I’m so excited to be his wife.
