Courtney and Trevor’s romantic wedding at Bridle Oaks was beautiful! The colors, the floral and the build-your-own-trail-mix bar made it so special, right to the end with a sparkler exit. And Courtney’s wedding shoes! Gorgeous. Thank you Courtney and Trevor for including us in this wonderful day! xo

From Courtney: Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: We kept the words ‘romantic’ and ‘whimsical’ in mind when making any decisions for the wedding. Wedding day color scheme: Burgundy, blush, green, and ivory Describe your wedding planning process: Pinterest became my best friend! I created boards for every part of the wedding (photography, florals, linens, etc…) and then after I felt like I had pinned everything there was to pin, I went through and deleted anything I didn’t absolutely love. I then showed the boards to my vendors and we went from there. What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Try not to stress out! I know everyone else is probably telling you the same thing, but that’s because it’s important! It might feel impossible, but you’ll probably end up feeling ridiculous for stressing so much on the day of after you and your husband/wife are married. Anything you would have done differently? Yes! I would have stressed out less! And I also would have tried on a bunch more dresses. I love the dress I chose, but I think I committed too quickly just to get that part over with. Most memorable moment during the planning process: Finally setting our date. We were engaged for over two years before we set our date so that was really exciting. What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? We’re both bringing a lot of personal goals to the marriage so we’re both excited to see and help each other achieve them! Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? The first look! What was your wedding inspiration? I followed a lot of wedding websites and blogs on social media (like SMP, BHLDN, etc…) and used the weddings that they featured as inspiration. Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them: We loved every single detail of the day so much, it’s hard to pick a favorite!
This venue was perfect for Heather and Dale – orange and purple details and everything wood (including Dale’s wedding ring!) We hit it off right away at their engagement session through historic downtown DeLand (see it here) and loved everything about their wedding, orange and grape soda toasts, lots of family and friends and a lip-sync sing-off that was too fun. Thank you Heather and Dale for including us ?
In Heather’s words: Describe your wedding day style in one sentence – Rustic Vintage with a splash of country! Wedding day color scheme – Purple, Orange and neutrals Describe your wedding planning process -Prayer, Pinterest, YouTube, more Prayer, more Pinterest and TheKnot Planning GuideWhat advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Hire a day of Coordinator – I am a bit of perfectionist and I knew the only way I would be able to “let it go” was to have someone else be the one in charge that day. Anything you would have done differently? Nope! Most memorable moment during the planning process– When we decided on our “special” gift to our guests! We performed our BEST lip sync performances ever!! What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? Building a family together! Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? From Heather – Dale’s reaction when the doors opened! From Dale – Photos from the lip sync battle What was your wedding inspiration? – Focused on God and making the day fun and memorable. Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. One our favorite’s was our toast. We had seen some pinterest posts with old fashioned soda bottles and thought it would be fun to incorporate them in to our wedding. So instead of the classic champagne toast, we had Orange and Grape glass soda bottles. Using wood throughout our theme – a reminder that our relationship is built on a firm foundation with deep roots!
We’ve known Mackenzie for a long time – we watched her and her twin sister Morgan dance in the high school play and photographed their senior portraits. We were so happy to hear of her engagement to Beau, (see their engagement session here) a middle school history teacher. Their wedding was so fun – complete with nitro ice cream and the best father-daughter dance I’ve seen (you gotta see it.) Not to mention her gorgeous, backless, Galia Lahav gown and incredible fireworks grand finale. They love to travel – their wedding table numbers were of all the wonderful places they have been together. Thank you Mack and Beau – here’s to many years of adventure together xo
Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: Rustic Sophistication with a flare of fun!
Wedding day color scheme: Navy blue with accents of powder blue, natural whites, earthy greens, and wood-tone browns
Describe your wedding planning process: It was a rush of activity at the beginning of the engagement 1 year and 3 months before the date booking the big stuff. Then there was a lull during which Beau and I moved, and then there was a second wave of detail and logistics planning 2 months before the wedding. There were so many details at the end, but it is worth the effort.
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day?1) Do as much as you can in advance. (There’s always more to do than you imagined) That way, you can truly sit back and watch the magic happen around you. 2) Do everything you can to make your wedding unique to you: add personal or sentimental touches. Sharing something special with your guests makes your wedding memorable. 3) Don’t worry about people having a good time. You’re getting married to your best friend. That’s AWESOME (and all that really matters).
Anything you would have done differently? I wish I recorded the seamstress bustling my dress. My mom was watching her, but I knew it would be hard to remember. Both my wedding planner and mother struggled for about 30 min during cocktail hour to make it stay in some sort of bustled form. I started to get antsy and Beau started feeding me crackers and cheese, which helped. Regardless of their initial effort, the dress kept coming undone throughout the night until my wedding planner safety pinned it up–people kept stepping on it and killing my dance party vibe.
Most memorable moment during the planning process:When I found an article that encouraged brides to add personal touches to their wedding on pinterest with all sorts of sentimental ideas. For example, it inspired me to work with my stationary vendor to create table assignments and markers based on our travels, not numbers. I mean, teaching my dad a dance to Turn Down for What was pretty memorable too, haha.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?Going on adventures with my best friend.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? My dress being sexy and awesome, and group photos with my favorite people.
What was your wedding inspiration? I was inspired by Beau and my’s love of nature and traveling (i.e. Ireland and Alaska) foremost. We were inspired by the simple elegance of an outdoor wedding, but my performance background bumped up the party: over-the-top father daughter performance w/ streamers and CO2 cannons, and fireworks finale.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. 1) I loved the personalized table numbers and art. It took a lot of effort, but I was very proud of the result.
2) People were blown away by the fireworks show, and it took a lot of work to make it happen. My DJ said he could pull it off, and lo and behold he was good to his word and I danced to Fireworks by Katie Perry on my wedding day!
3) I didn’t mean for this to happen, but the mementos I made for my parents ended up on the bar top for everyone to see. They were little customized photo cubes with old pictures of myself with either my mom or my dad. I was so touched to see them placed there, openly sharing our love with our guests. My parents do so much to make sure my life goes well; my wedding day was no exception. I am so thankful for such strong parents–I love them!

Lacey and Mike are just one of those couples that you love right away – mostly because of the way the look at each other. You can just tell – they are meant for each other. Icing on the cake is their sweet son Zane. We had such fun at their engagement shoot – lots of laughing even on a cold day.
Their wedding ceremony was at Sandhill Golf Course in DeLand under big beautiful oak trees and a sparkling chandelier. Her father’s speech had us all laughing and crying as Zane talked from his seat. The whole night was wonderful with amazing family and friends.

The day in Lacey’s words: Describe your wedding day in one sentence – Perfect Wedding day color scheme – Shabby Chic / Rustic Describe your wedding planning process – Amazing thanks to Courtney Ford What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Take a minute to sit back and take it all in and hem your dress shorter than you think it should be! What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? Growing old together Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? Our Son and our First Look What was your wedding inspiration? My husband and I are simple, laid back people and we wanted the day to feel the same. We wanted it to be more like a party where everyone could be themselves and enjoy a night out. Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. My favorite details were planning the ceremony site (the barn doors and chandelier) and the sign for my son to carry. I saw them all on Pinterest and thought how romantic they looked and the sign, I mean come on – How cute is that! I also wanted to have songs that meant something to me and my family – Our first dance was a song that Mike and I heard when we first started dating that pretty much summed up how we felt for each other before we told each other – Lady Antebellum – “Can’t Take my Eyes off you”, one of my favorite songs is “At Last” by Etta James and that is the song that I danced to with Mike and Zane because, At Last my life was complete. My Daddy and I danced to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw because we say “I love you more” to each other and it just fit. I also wanted to have a dance with just my son Zane and I – I sing “GodSpeed” by the Dixie Chicks to him every night so that is what we danced to.
