A perfect night for a small, intimate wedding – New Year’s Eve! So much fun with Lindsey and Zach and their closest friends and family at a private residence in Deland, Florida. We started off on the Stetson University campus – these are a few of our favorites. Happy New Year!

I met Lauren when she was in high school. The fashion photographer in me saw her beautiful face, big eyes and long legs and I said to her Mom: “Please call me when she is ready for her model portfolio!” Which she did, which lead to our friendship and then to them sitting on our living room couch talking about her wedding to her handsome military man Trevor. We loved this wedding! I haven’t seen so much laughing at a wedding like this – giggling really. Such a happy and perfect-for-each-other couple! Thank you Lauren and Trevor for including us in your wonderful family celebration!
And special thanks to Michelle, our amazing wedding coordinator, for this wonderful commentary of Lauren and Trevor’s big night:
On November 2nd 2013, Lauren married her love Trevor at the beautiful Garden Chateau in Winter Garden Florida. This sweet couple showed their love for one another, as well as their family and friends, throughout their remarkable wedding day.
The ceremony took place on the Garden Lawn, adored with market lighting and mason jar floral – the mood was set for the lovely, sentimental ceremony. The purple and lavender floral, provided by Lee Forrest Designs, popped against the gorgeous green Garden Lawn of the Garden Chateau. As Lauren and her father entered through the garden gate, with the view of Johns Lake as their background, guests were in awe.
Lauren was the epitome of vintage elegance with her lace Vera Wang gown and fabulous lace boots. From head to toe, Lauren was breathtaking. Bridesmaids dressed in deep purple cocktail dresses – flower girl Rachel made a special entrance by passing out purple roses as she walked down the aisle. The charming details the couple added to their ceremony made each guest feel so loved.
The evening was complete with dinner in the library and cake cutting in the Grand Room. Candlelight and family photos created a homey, family feel in the Library where dinner was served. The talented Darlene Wood created the three-tiered buttercream cake, embellished with delicate flowers in various shades of purple. Guests enjoyed tea and coffee in antique teacups belonging to the Mother of the Bride. This family affair is one to remember!
Congratulations Lauren and Trevor – wishing you are lifetime of love and happiness!
Courtney and I had so much fun with Allison and Jed in Winter Park for their engagement shoot. Allison is a registered nurse at the mayo clinic in Jacksonville and Jed manages a travel center in Georgia. Together they love to travel, eat delicious food, drink craft beer, spend their Sundays watching the Jacksonville Jaguars (we scheduled this shoot around that) And in the summer spend the day in their pool. I asked them what they loved about each other: “We keep each other grounded. We are the perfect percentage similar personality and totally opposite… It’s amazing.”
When our good friend Mary (editor of Oviedo-Winter Springs Life magazine) introduced us to her niece Christen and her fiance Brad, it was love at first sight for us. Christen works for the Sarasota Humane Society and he is a mortgage broker and live in Sarasota. They were so wonderful and funny and made us feel like we had all been friends for years. (See their sweet and romantic engagement session here.)
We sat and talked about their wedding for a long time – we were so excited since we love destination weddings and we love Savannah! It was beautiful with amazing details in midnight blue and grays at a beautiful little chapel and a reception a the historic Olde Pink House.
In Christen’s words, “As soon as Brad and I met, I knew he was the one. After six years of dating, Brad and I went to Siesta Key one evening to watch the sunset and he surprised me by proposing! After dinner, Brad had another surprise up his sleeve and brought me to our local hangout where ALL our friends were waiting to celebrate with us!
I knew I wanted us to get married in Savannah. Every summer growing up, we would stop in Savannah on our way up to my stepdad’s family lake house and I simply fell in love with the city. The charm, the people, the food…the city is captivating!
Planning a destination wedding is quite a lot of work, so thank goodness we had a year to plan! And thank goodness for my Aunt Mary, who introduced me to Bianca at the Pink House. As soon as I took a tour of the Pink House and met Bianca, I knew we had found our reception site! Bianca was wonderful and helped me find all our wonderful vendors. If I could give any advice to future brides, get a coordinator! Cindy Brown was our day-of coordinator and she was amazing! Between her and Bianca, they kept me on task and the wedding was everything we could have hoped for! Every vendor was so friendly and accommodating and so easy to work with!
We were surrounded by our closest friends and family and it was simply the best day of our lives.”
Christen and Brad – Thank you for including us in one of favorite celebrations – you and your family and friends made our jobs so easy. xo
We met Angela and Evan through our friend Halle – Angela was her beloved dance coach at Oviedo High School. We had a lot of fun strolling through Leu Gardens for their engagement shoot, enjoying the view and watching how great they are together, laughing a lot. We love their photos! They are so sweet to each other and so… gorgeous. We can’t wait for their wedding! I asked Angela to write about how they met and what they love about each other:
How we met: I coached Evan’s younger sister on the Dance Team at Oviedo High School. Their mother introduced us (she gave him my number) in April of 2012.
First date: Our first date was canoeing at Wekiva Island. He says he immediately fell for me because I was so easy to talk to and I loved wings, beer, and hockey! Not to mention, his family already loved me and knew me as Coach K. I love him for being the most kind-hearted and considerate man I have ever known. He still opens the car door for me every time. Evan loves my sense of humor and my passion for teaching dance. I look up to him for the courage he has as a firefighter and paramedic.
We were engaged at sunrise on March 24, 2013 on Daytona Beach.
I loved Michelle and Paul’s wedding – such a great group of friends and family. It’s not often I meet someone taller than Courtney – until I met Paul, at 6′ 8″, he towered over all of us – but his personality was sweet was perfectly down to earth. And Michelle looked up at him with a tall amount of love! I included some of my favorites from their engagement session with their precious baby Mimi here too.
Last week I was lucky enough to work with Michelle as she is now a fab wedding planner! Check out Elle Cinder Designs. So fun to go from photographing her beautiful wedding to working with her on someone else wedding! Since she is so good about planning weddings, I asked her to help me write about her own – since she is good at that too! Happy Anniversary Michelle and Paul!
November 9th 2012 – one year ago, Paul and Michelle became husband and wife in the beautiful cathedral of Saint James Catholic Cathedral in Downtown Orlando Florida. The couple felt nothing but true love for one another as family and friends gathered to witness their vows. Michelle was breathtaking in her beaded, Madeline Gardner wedding gown, with Kate Spade gold glitter heels. Paul was handsome as ever in his tailored suit, purple patterned shirt and coordinating tie. The bridesmaids were lovely in unique deep plum Alfred Angelo Vintage Bridal cocktail dresses with stunning hair and makeup, provided by UnBridaled Beauty. The gentlemen impressed with matching tailored suits and completed their look with purple argyle socks – everyone looked great!
The reception was held at the Grand Bohemian Hotel and was full of class and style. The various shades of purple flowers, provided by Windermere Flowers & Gifts, accented the gold candelabra centerpieces creating a magnificent atmosphere. Paul and Michelle were overjoyed when greeted by guests upon their introduction as husband and wife! All of their friends and family in one place celebrating their special day, certainly a moment they will never forget!
The talented Darlene Wood created both the wedding cake and the groom’s cake. The gorgeous, rhinestone accented, three tiered butter cream wedding cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The groom’s cake was fantastic – a chocolate cigar box complete with the grooms monogram! The VIP chair signs hung from the gold chiavari chairs, provided by A Chair Affair, and the “For Richer or Poorer” lottery ticket favors were set on each place setting. The details were everywhere! White Rose Entertainment had the guests dancing the night away, while the Grand Bohemian servers made everyone feel like royalty! Voila Cinematic and Kelly Canova Photography captured the most precious moments of the evening and created memories the bride and groom will enjoy for years to come!
Courtney and I are ridiculously excited to be leaving Saturday for our Fantasy Disney Cruise Destination Wedding to Mexico – Western Caribbean! Mostly because we absolutely LOVE our amazing couple Yvonne and Eric from New York. We (and 20 of their closest friends and family) are off to an amazing week that includes a beautiful wedding on the beach of Disney’s Castaway Cay and a Trash the Dress photo shoot on Grand Cayman Island! Plus fun shopping time in Cozumel and some Mayan ruin sightseeing in Costa Maya.
Almost exactly a year ago Yvonne called me from New York while we are on our annual wedding anniversary trip to St. Augustine. When she told me she wanted us to photograph her Disney Cruise Wedding for the week of November 9th, I told her, “oh we would love that – that will be over our wedding anniversary!” she pretty much hired us on the spot – “It’s fate,” she said. “You have to be there with us then.” On November 10, Courtney and I will be celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary, dining in the exclusive (fancy!) French restaurant Remy. (Happy Anniversay honey!)
Through the year we have become good friends with Yvonne and Eric. They came here to Orlando for an engagement shoot, which we have some of our favorites below, and we went to New York for another shoot there over the summer (see it here.) They are the type of couple that are so easy to talk to, laugh with. They sent lovely notes all year, sent flowers for my birthday and for Christmas.
Leu Gardens is one of our favorite places to shoot, so pretty and peaceful there. Every spot is a beautiful backdrop. Especially when you have a couple as sweet and in love with each other as these two. Yvonne and Eric – we CAN. NOT. WAIT for our next adventure together! See you in a couple of days. xoxo
Joanna and Chad are so much fun, so unique, so… in LOVE. He juggles, she hula-hoops. We were so happy to photograph them, this time a family affair as our son Jeremy photographed their colorful, circus-themed wedding and Courtney and I captured an amazing photo shoot through DeLand and the carnival there.
In Joanna’s words, “Chad and I started dating in 2007. A mutual friend and I were living together and Chad came over for party and crashed on my couch for about 2 weeks before I decided he should never leave 🙂 We started dating and went though our ups and downs but in the end decided we never wanted to be apart. Being that Chad is a juggler and I am a hooper our friends always call us circus freaks. When we started talking about wedding ideas we couldn’t help but decide on a carnival themed wedding.”
Their wedding was at Cafe DaVinci (Courtney and I have a special place in our hearts for this venue – we got married there almost 6 years ago!) With great friends and wonderful family all around, good friend Garrett in full Ringmaster costume and in dramatic fashion married them. Seuss-like toasts, DIY details and Save the Dates made with clay cast from their own fingers made this wedding more than fun and unique. It was Spectacular. The bride and groom also made the Ticket and Kissing Booths and the record album cake stands! Joanna and Chad – best to you both – Oh The places You’ll Go!
Karen and Alan’s beautiful wedding at The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes was full of love, friends and family. We loved watching them together – they were silly, starry-eyed and Alan sang love songs to Karen as they danced. Karen runs a Montessori school and Alan is a marketing and business man, together they make an amazing couple.
We’ve worked many weddings with husband and wife team DJ Michael Paul and Yolanda of Rhythm of the Night Entertainment who kept the crowd dancing and singing Karaoke. We have also have done many weddings with Danielle Evans of Dream Designs Florist who created the beautiful florals.
Thank you for a fun evening Karen and Alan! And congratulations on your new lives together.

We LOVED Stephanie and Jason’s wedding. The landscape was perfect for their photos at the Florida Agricultural Museum – the Caldwell Barn, Black Cowboys Exhibit and 1890s general store added to the charm of the touches created by the couple. I loved the baby’s breath filled vases and the beautiful red ribbon backdrop made by Stephanie. We met them at her sister Tricia’s wedding – it was so nice to see the family we already knew.
From Stephanie: “Our wedding was a mix of old and new, we had 100 year anniversary mason jars for gifts, to a superman grooms cake, I loved the wonderful mix of family and friends having a wonderful time dancing the night away. It was unique because it was us, we had the rustic charm trimmed in lace.”
Congratulations Stephanie and Jason – to your new beautiful family!
