When Matt called me from Texas and told me he wanted to propose to his beautiful girlfriend Brittany, he told me she thought airports were so romantic. When he landed in Orlando he decided he wanted to propose as soon as he got off the plane. And it was so romantic.
Thank you Matt and Brittany for including us in this wonderful celebration! <3
From Brittany: Matt and I have been friends for 12 years. Our love story is very much like the story line of “You’ve Got Mail.” We met in an AOL instant messenger chat room, and quickly became friends. For years, we talked, and kept in touch through school, moves, breakups and more. Then, one day we decided to meet. The rest is pretty much history. Matt’s airport proposal was like something straight out of a movie. I can’t believe he had a photographer there to capture it all! Everything about loving Matt, and being loved by him is like the fairy tale I always knew I deserved. I can honestly say I am marrying my best friend! Matt and I will say our vows in front of God, family and closest friends, during an intimate ceremony on February 26th, 2015, under a giant live oak tree, and we will celebrate with a barn reception. We can’t wait to start our life together as husband and wife!

I loved meeting Megan, a teacher, and her fiancĂ©e Hector to talk about their wedding at the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne. Megan and I talked dresses and shoes while Courtney and Hector talked bike racing. A perfect fit. I loved her handmade details, vintage feel and Tom’s wedding shoes. See below for some of Megan’s thoughts about her beautiful wedding and advice for brides-to-be.
Catering : John Michael Events
DJ: Randy Price
Coordinator: Events by Yram
Flowers: Jonathan’s Flowers
Cake: Costco
Wedding Dress: David’s Bridal
Shoes: Tom’s
Bridesmaid dresses: David’s Bridal
Menswear: Men’s Wearhouse
Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: Vintage elegance
Wedding day color scheme: Wisteria, ivory, and gray
Describe your wedding planning process – I started with the venue and that set the slightly vintage feel for the day. The dress came next, which was more formal than I had expected wanting, so that helped set the tone for the remaining details. The rest was mostly about finding the least expensive way to get what I wanted, since we were working with an extremely tight budget.
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Don’t be afraid to make decisions based on what YOU want. Don’t get talked into doing things because others say you just have to do this or have to have that. It can save you money and make the day a reflection of the two of you.
Anything you would have done differently? The caterer agreed to make a dish not on their menu. Even though the sample they made was very good, on the day-of, that dish was pretty bad. It’s probably best to stick with what your caterer does best.
Most memorable moment during the planning process: Putting on the dress that was the one!
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? Finally getting settled into our house, and then leaving it to travel – someday.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? Our first-look photos!
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. The cake! Everyone commented that it by far the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. I was getting quotes of $1000 – $1500 we for something simple. Instead, we went with one of our favorite cakes – a round multi-layered chocolate masterpiece from Costco. We bought four, put three of them on cake stands of varying heights with some flowers on the table (one extra cake, just in case!), and it looked great! We had it served with fresh raspberries. The total cost for the cake and berries was less than $100. I also loved my shoes. I am not a frequent wearer of heels and I had a long staircase to descend, so I wanted a comfortable wedge. I discovered that Tom’s makes a shoe often used for weddings, in an ivory grosgrain. I love all of my regular Tom’s, so they were perfect!

Gordon, a physician, called me from Pittsburg to talk about his proposal to beautiful Kristen, an accountant who lives in Toronto. He was so sweet, so nervous, wanted his proposal to be perfect and wanted us there to capture it. Gordon had quite the set up for his proposal to Kristen – Mickey balloons, rose petals and a beautiful engagement ring – looking over Disney World from Disney’s Contemporary Resort balcony. He even had rented a Ring Cam!  It captured the whole proposal from Gordon’s point of view. We had so much fun with them and CAN NOT wait for their summer wedding in Toronto!
I asked Kristen how they met and how they got to Disney for their proposal: Gordon and I met through mutual friends, his cousin (Emily) and my best friend (Azalea) worked together and he arranged an outing with all his cousins and Emily invited Azalea who invited me and the rest was history! Gordon chose Disney World to propose because we are both huge Disney fans and our goal is to visit all the Disney resorts in the world. Disney World is the best one so he chose Orlando for the proposal. I initially thought I was going to a free family vacation paid by my mom’s company with my parents to Orlando so I was REALLY surprised when I walked into the room. From what I heard from Gordon he had been planning this Disney proposal for a very long time, endless consultations with his best friend, my best friend and our parents to pull it off.

We were very excited to be a part of Tania and Axel’s wedding. We knew when we met for their engagement session that this couple were meant to be together and that their Casa Feliz wedding would be special. And it was. Family from far away and really great friends were there to celebrate with them and everything was perfect. Working with amazing wedding professionals and such a great couple made our jobs very easy that night! I love to hear what couples say about their wedding after it is all over so don’t miss their ideas and great advice for new couples planning a wedding below. xo

Wedding Dress: Brides by Demetrios

Wedding day color scheme: mostly creams and greens with pops of deep purple
Describe your wedding planning process:
I let the style and architecture of the venue dictate the layout and the decor. We very early knew that we wanted a small wedding, and that we wanted everyone together for the reception, so that told us how many people we could invite. As far as the colors, Axel was going to wear a blue suit, and I found some pictures on Pintrest of weddings with the groom in blue. That’s when I found a bouquet that I loved and Lee made a version of that bouquet, but with his own artistic touch.
Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: the mood was relaxed and fun, even if the decor and the attire was elegant.
Most memorable moment during the planning process: Tania: telling my mother about the details of the wedding that I assumed she knew, but she didn’t and they made her very happy. Oh, and getting the marriage license. Axel: that we very early on agreed on a budget. Axel: the food tasting.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? Growing old together and having a partner that you can trust and love by your side.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? Axel: when Tania was walking down the isle, pictures during the ceremony. Tania: Axel’s reaction when he first saw me, my dad’s face when he first saw me, Axel and I dancing and the posed pictures of us and the family.
What was your wedding inspiration? We wanted the wedding to be elegant, but not too fussy. We wanted our guests to feel as if they were coming to a special dinner party. We wanted the decor and the details to be personal and meaningful.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. Tania: I loved the garland, which was absolutely Lee Forrest. Axel and Tania: we spent time with the pastor so that the ceremony would be personal. We chose Pastor Mike because we wanted someone who knew us and had seen our journey in faith.
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Don’t try to do too much, and know your limits. I just wanted to be surrounded by a few very important people prior to the ceremony, and I set those limits with others. Also, a few beautiful details will be more memorable than ten hurried activities, etc.
–be sure that you and your future husband are united in the approach and decisions. Everyone has an opinion, but yours as a couple is most important.
–spend enough time with your photographer and with your wedding planner to get to know them and be sure you like them. Personality is important and Kelly and Courtney were not only excellent, but also calming and so sweet. (Thank you Tania! That means a lot xo)
–hire a planner, even if it’s just for the day. Cyndi was one of the main reasons why I was so relaxed that day.
–be sure to have as many hair and make up trials as you need to be sure that you’re happy with what you’ll look like on the day. This really helped me and Kitty understand what I was looking for, so the day of make up was perfect upon first application.
–be present in the day and take it all in, every second. Just roll with anything that happens– people won’t remember that part of it.

We loved Stacy and Steve’s elegant St. Augustine wedding at the River House with beautiful sapphire blue, cream and splashes of purple details. One of my favorite parts of the evening was when Stacy made her beautiful long wedding dress into an amazing short dress as a surprise for Steve right before their first dance! As advice to new brides, Stacy said, “Enjoy every minute of the day because it passes very quickly.” They wanted a fun celebration with their family and friends and that was exactly what they got – so many people there to share their joy. Courtney and I were so happy to be able to be apart of it!

I am so in love with this Cocoa Beach Trash the Dress Photography shoot with Kim amd Royce! There was a tropical storm on the the night of their wedding. Their plans for a beautiful under-the-tent on the beach wedding went away with the wind! So we got together after for a fun run on Cocoa Beach “After the wedding”. Â No storms can keep these two apart.

I was so happy to get a call from Abigail to talk about a Trash the Dress session for her and her husband Joel. The New York couple was visiting family in Florida and wanted to do a shoot for their 5th year wedding anniversary in Cocoa Beach. Though we had never met, we all felt like we had been friends for a long time. Abigail and Joel were so sweet with each other, loving and romantic but also funny – there was lots of laughing. I felt like they had a secret that only the two of them understood. They made our job quite simple.
