Jessica and Matthew were so excited to have their Disney engagement photos at the Magic Kingdom! It is no wonder why so many couples get engaged at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, and it’s always a thrill when we’re there to capture the magic.
They met us at Disney’s Main Street in front of the train station. We were so happy to stroll through the park with these two to capture their Disney proposal portraits. Disney’s 50th-anniversary celebration was underway at the time, so we made sure to take lots of portraits all around Cinderella Castle. The lighting was fabulous and unique, and the magical background was perfect to complement this beautiful and sweet couple.
Jessica’s white dress was stunning with a big beautiful bow in the back, but what I loved most where her amazing Disney-inspired sparkly nails to go with her perfect engagement ring!
In all our portraits of these two, it’s clear to see what a sweet love they have for each other. They truly adore one another, and we expect to see many more smiles and gentle smooches in their future.

As the saying goes, “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go astray.” Rain has become a symbol of this: it’s a curveball that nature throws our way and it can dampen nearly any mood (literally) or break down any plan we might have had. But that makes it all the more special when something incredible is able to break through the rain.
That’s exactly what happened for this adorable couple’s engagement photo shoot. You might know that Florida tends to have truly epic rainstorms, and the rain that poured down on the day of these two’s engagement was no exception. Not only did the rain make the outdoor atmosphere of the Magic Kingdom a bit less welcoming, but it threw a wrench in the schedule for the day too.
And yet, in spite of everything, this groom-to-be stepped out from under the umbrella, got down on one very wet knee, and made this one of the best days his soon-to-be wife will have in her life. Clearly, it was a good call, because do you see her amazing smile? She couldn’t contain her excitement, and the rainstorm seemed to fade away purely from how bright and joyful she was.
This engagement photo session was actually special for a few other reasons too. First of all, it was planned as a gift for the couple by the groom-to-be’s mom. It was a pleasure to plan it with her, and I can already tell how excited she is to welcome her future daughter-in-law to the family! Second, we received a special extra treat: the ability to get this sweet couple’s daughter in their engagement photos. She might not grasp what’s going on, but in the years to come, I know that she’ll treasure this special day and I’m thrilled that she’ll have these engagement portraits to look back on.

Alexandra and Sean are the sweetest couple! They came all the way from Ohio to Disney’s Magic Kingdom for a special engagement shoot! So happy they called us to be there.
Alexandra and I talked about outfits and I sent her a few ideas. (We are always available to help plan your engagement shoot!) I loved the beautiful red dress that she choose! It went perfectly with Disney backdrops and Mickey balloons. And her nails! Perfectly done to show off her new engagement ring.
I love to meet and start taking photos upstairs in the Main Street Train Station. It is always pretty quiet there, very few people and always has the best light. We then traveled down Main Street catching cool doorways, holding Mickey balloons and to Disney’s amazing candy store, the Main Street Confectionery. Alexandra and Sean had fun there, picking out their favorite Disney character on lollipops and looking for cute Disney mugs. One of my favorite photos I took is one of Disney candy maker employees acting silly. They are always great there!
Outside The Plaza Restaurant are bright yellow chairs and tables with cute umbrellas. Alexandra looked so cute there in her red dress, especially when she did a few twirls for the camera. Cinderella Castle in the background was a good backdrop as always.
Then we went over to the famous Purple Wall on the way to Tomorrowland. This spot has been a favorite of our clients for a long time, some people have never seen it or never knew it was there, so this is a fun one for great photos.
Finally of course, Cinderella Castle. Alexandra and Sean looked so cute playing, dancing and even a dance big dip right up front! Good move by Sean 🙂 Courtney and I had a lot of fun with these two. Congratulations!

We can’t wait for James and Jacklyn’s DeLand wedding tomorrow! We had a quick chance to do a fun engagement shoot at the Magic Kingdom, one of their (and my) favorite places. Tomorrow is going to be a great day xo
I asked them what they love most about each other, from Jaclyn: I love his sense of humor and integrity. He says he loves my creativity and zeal.

We loved meeting Makayla and Steve for their engagement session last week. They are true Disney fans like us – and they met and used to work at Magic Kingdom! Spending time with them reminded us that “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” Thank you Malaya and Steve for including us in this magical day! xo If you are interested in a Magic Kingdom Engagement Photography session, please contact us today!
From Steve:We met on our very first day working at Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland. Everyday we grew closer, and built on a strong foundation of friendship. Over the course of our Disney College Programs you could find us together almost everyday, either in the Magic Kingdom, or watching How I Met Your Mother until late in the evening. At the end of our Disney College Programs we headed to the airport for a very difficult goodbye.
Makayla and I finally had to head back to our respective Universities (Penn State and the University of Utah) after an amazing 8 months of working together. After many hours on the phone, Skype, and FaceTime we realized we missed each other far too much, and that we needed to plan a vacation back to Walt Disney World. During that week we finally shared our true feelings with each other, and our amazing relationship began.
In the summer of 2016 I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be with Makayla, and her family. The summer we shared together proved to me why I loved her so much. The more time I spent with her the more certain I am that she is my soulmate.
We are now both graduated, happily engaged, and extremely excited for marriage. After living thousands of miles apart for so long Makayla and I are excited to be living in Orlando, the city we met in as we start our lives together.
Matthew was the best man at Gordon and Kristen’s wedding last year in Toronto – we all became friends right away. Matthew called us last week and said he and Maria were visiting Florida, had just got engaged and wanted a Disney engagement photo session! We were really happy to see him and meet (ridiculously cute) Maria. They are one of the sweetest and happiest couples we’ve met. Our shoot was so fun, especially when “royal etiquette expert” Lady Llewellyn from Cinderella’s Court at the Magic Kingdom hung out with us! She gathered other guests there to give Maria and Matthew some of their best marriage advice. Which, by the way the looked at each other and literally danced together down Main Street, I don’t think they really needed <3 Read more from Matthew below
Our story:
In the Manhattan church that I attend, we hold a sandwich drive each month for the homeless. Maria was in New York for interviews and the night before her interview, she wanted to spend the evening with the youth group. As soon as she walked into the church, I spotted her smile, she spotted my pager, and we hit it off from that night. We met up together in a group the next evening, after her interview, and went to Dave and Buster’s, where both of our competitive spirits came out to play. Fast forward a year later, including dinner dates, escape rooms, Broadway shows, basketball games, and so much more. At that time we found ourselves preparing for our individual medical specialty board examinations. By far one of the most stressful times in both of our lives. Her profession is in Radiology and mine in Pathology, which together makes a cute diagnostic medical team. I took my exam in May and spent the last week with Maria before she took hers in June, all the while planning our proposal to surprise her (a rare feat). We had plans to fly out to Atlanta, where her family is, the weekend after her board exam, then to NY for my residency graduation, and finally to Orlando to enjoy being a kid again in Disney World.
The Proposal:
While preparing for our board exams, I was secretly planning the proposal of a lifetime. Maria grew up in Atlanta, where all of her friends and family are, and where her home church is, which means the world to her. I always knew I wanted to propose to my future wife in front of a church altar, because of the deep symbolism behind it and the importance of having God amongst us always. I also wanted to tweak the proposal with a little bit of romance and fun, who wouldn’t? So I set up a Proposal themed “Escape Room” with clues based on our relationship only she would know in order to succeed and escape the room. The room included an area from our Past and another for our Future. Five memories from our relationship were used to unlock a pathology slide box that was filled with five more facts about our future. The last five clues unlocked a container with a large X-Ray of the ring saying, “MEET ME WHERE WE SAID I LOVE YOU.” Instantaneously, she knew where to meet me – in front of the altar. There I was, pacing, standing, detouring curious friends; inside the church by the altar, awaiting my beautiful bride-to-be to walk in. She shyly opened the door, and weak in the knees walked up the center aisle. We stood in front of the altar, and recalling Maria asking me for her ring pop on the last Valentine’s Day we spent together, I promptly pulled out a diamond collection ring pop from my left inner blazer pocket. She says “YES!” with her excitement exceeding my expectations. After whispering words I have been awaiting to tell her for so long, I get down on my right knee, pull out a Cinderella carriage ring box, open it and ask, “Will you marry me?” She says, “Yes!!” and the anxiously awaiting family and friends outside the church doors come marching in to the church to celebrate!!
