If you’re ever having a bad day or need a little pick-me-up, spend a day with an engagement photographer. You’ll be filled with hope once again! There’s something about being upfront and center for a huge act of love that makes you see the world in a more hopeful light. The day we photographed DJ and Amanda’s engagement was super special.

The Proposal

When DJ contacted us to photograph his proposal to his beautiful then-girlfriend Amanda, we could tell they were going to be a fun couple to work with. We met up with the pair at The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The resort’s stunning interior and beautiful architecture are perfect backdrops for a surprise proposal. We spent the first moments of their engagement with them, and we think the pictures speak for themselves. These two are crazy about each other.

We left them that night in a cloud of bliss and met up with them again the next day for an engagement shoot at the Magic Kingdom!

The Engagement Shoot

The awesome thing about Disney engagement photoshoots is that they truly have something for everyone! If you want classy engagement photos in front of an adorable storefront, you’ve got it. Or, perhaps you want a picture in front of Cinderella’s Castle. We can do that, too! Disney’s parks are so vast and stunning that we can definitely find the perfect backdrop to represent your special day.

We loved the idea of a 2-day photoshoot! Day one was full of all the expected excitement of a proposal, but by day two, after the excitement settled in, DJ and Amanda were relaxed, happy, and extremely photogenic! If you’re considering a Disney proposal, we highly recommend this idea.

A Disney Superfan Proposal at Magic Kingdom

A Proposal at Magic Kingdom

Of all the locales where I take proposal photos in the Disney parks, Magic Kingdom has to be the most popular. After all, it’s the park that captures all the Disney themes the most, so for any Disney fan, it’s the most magical place to get engaged.

That was certainly the case for this beautiful couple, Brielle and Eddy! They’re from New Jersey, and both of them (along with the whole family) are Disney superfans. So, naturally, when Eddy wanted to give Brielle the amazing proposal she’s always dreamed of, he thought of Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

The entire family came to Orlando to enjoy Disney, and this made the proposal even more special because they could all be there and share in Brielle and Eddy’s excitement. I loved how thrilled the whole family was, and I can already tell that this couple’s wedding will be a blast!

With Brielle and Eddy officially engaged, we made use of the park to capture their magical engagement photos, themed around all things Disney. Brielle was even accessorized for the occasion with her Cinderella carriage purse, Mickey ears, and amazing Disney nails! Cinderella’s castle and the wishing well were must-photograph backdrops for these two, and the photos of them kissing in front of the carousel are show-stoppers!

My favorite part of photographing Brielle and Eddy, though, was capturing the genuinely joyful spirit they share. They’re both so bright and sweet, and they laugh together so easily! I was thrilled that these Disney superfans were able to turn a fun day at the Magic Kingdom into a day they’ll treasure forever.

Harry P. Leu Gardens Proposal Photography Session

John and his girlfriend are from out of state and were staying the weekend in Orlando for a little vacation. They hadn’t been to Leu Gardens but thought it’d be a great change of pace between days when they visited Disney World. It was a perfect day for a proposal and of course, she said yes! Congratulations you two!

The Harry P. Leu Gardens are semi-tropical and tropical gardens in Orlando, Florida, United States. The gardens contain nearly 50 acres of landscaped grounds and lakes, with meandering trails shaded by 200-year-old oaks and forests of camellias. They are open to the public.

Amber and Cory are Disney fans and came all the way from Minnesota for fun and engagement photos! They also run the Disney marathon! I loved the email from her when she booked with us, “We are bursting at the seams with excitement!” Us too. These two are the sweetest.

From Cory:
Amber and I have known of each other for around 34 years, lol give or take, but our love, our relationship, our story and adventures didn’t begin until just over 4 years ago. As children we lived on the same block, just doors away from each other, but an age gap just kept our names familiar to each other through the years, until adulthood. We had a chance encounter at my previous employer that sparked enough curiosity for the two of use to investigate the possibilities. We are very, very thankful that we persevered through the highs and lows of the most amazing rollercoaster ride ever imagined because when our car finally got into the final straight away, we both knew we were ready to tighten up the seatbelt and not get out till the end of days. We found a best friend and true love in each other! We’ve had so many fun, wonderful adventures together already. We are currently filling our Paradise Falls jar for our next big adventure and cant wait to see where we land next!

High school sweethearts and Pennsylvania couple, Olivia and Zach wanted to re-create their proposal trip to Disney with a fun Magic Kingdom photo shoot. We are so happy they called us to capture it <3

From Olivia and Zach:
Zach and I met our freshman year of high school in 2008. I was new to the school, we became friends that year, but being the new girl and him only being 14-15 years old we were both afraid to say anything about liking each other. Our sophomore year of high school we had a couple more classes together and became really good friends until he finally got enough courage to ask me to be his girlfriend. We have been inseparable ever since then. I even traveled 8-10 hours because I never wanted to miss one of his soccer games. We have been together for over 7 years now. Last year I was completely surprised when he asked me to marry him on the Peter Pan ride in Disney World (Peter Pan is my favorite Disney movie)!! We both love everything Disney! Zach is my best friend and I cannot imagine my life without him. I thank God every day for blessing me with the most AMAZING man. I can’t wait for all of the magical memories we will continue to make together!!

I remember the first day I saw Olivia like it was yesterday. Freshman year she was new to our school and I just new I had to find out more about her. One thing turned into another and by sophomore year we were dating. You know you’re in love with someone when you are in a big stadium playing soccer and you look up in the stands and only see her. No matter were I traveled for soccer she was always in the stands and that is only one of the many reasons of why I love this beautiful woman!

The rain did not stop Nakiya and Eris from having a great engagement session last week! These Disney lovers are the nicest couple! We can not wait for their Disney Dream Cruise Wedding!

From Nakiya: Eris and I actually met online on a dating website. We had our first date at a movie and decided to make our second date the very next day! Fast forward, and we just celebrated our 3 year anniversary on a 4 night Disney Cruise to the Bahamas where we got engaged. We’re looking forward to planning our wedding on the ship the Disney Dream, where we got engaged. I am a huge Disney fan, which is why Eris chose to propose on the Disney Cruise. We travel to Disney World every year and have made so many special memories there so it only seems right to have a Disney wedding!

What I love most about Eris is his sense of humor and how we always have the time of our lives even when things don’t go as planned. Eris says that he loves my sense of adventure and determination. No matter what we’re doing we’re always laughing and having a good time.

We loved meeting Makayla and Steve for their engagement session last week. They are true Disney fans like us – and they met and used to work at Magic Kingdom! From Steve:We met on our very first day working at Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland. Everyday we grew closer, and built on a strong foundation of friendship. Over the course of our Disney College Programs you could find us together almost everyday, either in the Magic Kingdom, or watching How I Met Your Mother until late in the evening. At the end of our Disney College Programs we headed to the airport for a very difficult goodbye.

Makayla and I finally had to head back to our respective Universities (Penn State and the University of Utah) after an amazing 8 months of working together. After many hours on the phone, Skype, and FaceTime we realized we missed each other far too much, and that we needed to plan a vacation back to Walt Disney World. During that week we finally shared our true feelings with each other, and our amazing relationship began.

In the summer of 2016 I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be with Makayla, and her family. The summer we shared together proved to me why I loved her so much. The more time I spent with her the more certain I am that she is my soulmate.

We are now both graduated, happily engaged, and extremely excited for marriage. After living thousands of miles apart for so long Makayla and I are excited to be living in Orlando, the city we met in as we start our lives together.
