Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Proposal | Derek and Rachel

Derek called me about proposal photos – he and his beautiful girlfriend Rachel were taking a News Years visit to Disney World and wanted to propose to her there as a surprise. He had planned it for a year – a hand-made “marry me” ornament on the tree for her to find on the Christmas tree at the Grand Floridian Resort. A horse-drawn carriage ride through Port Orleans Resort. A limo to take them from place to place. A dinner at the California Grill on top of the Disney’s Contemporary Resort. And we were there for all of it! Thank you Derek and Rachel for including us in this special night.

I was so happy when Amanda called from New York to tell us that they were coming to Orlando, going to the Magic Kingdom (one of my favorite places to be) and they wanted to celebrate their engagement with a photo session! The park was newly dressed up for the holidays and we had so much fun going place to place: where they got engaged at the Wishing Well, getting ice cream and running around to find that special etched glass window we saw on Pinterest. Disney’s Grand Floridian Proposal | Brittany and Jeff

When Jeff, a lawyer from Tallahassee, called me to ask if we would photograph his proposal to his beautiful girlfriend Brittany, also a lawyer, we were thrilled. We were even more excited to find out that the proposal would be on a private balcony at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. After a romantic dinner, Jeff got down on one knee and proposed right as the fireworks were shooting over the park. Brittany, of course, said yes. Disney Boardwalk Engagement Photography | Lindsay and Lou

I love it when couples from up north get to travel south to their favorite places in Florida  – especially when they call me to photograph them. I love to meet couples from other places and still get to be a small part of their new lives together. Lou, a New Jersey police officer, called me to set up an engagement shoot with his beautiful girl Lindsay, a cosmetologist and hair designer, at Disney Boardwalk – one of their favorite places to visit. They were sweet and easy with each other, playing games and up for anything. Lou even let Lindsay handcuff him!

A Disney Proposal at the Contemporary Resort | Gordon and Kristen

​Gordon, a physician, called me from Pittsburg to talk about his proposal to beautiful Kristen, an accountant who lives in Toronto. He was so sweet, so nervous, wanted his proposal to be perfect and wanted us there to capture it. Gordon had quite the set up for his proposal to Kristen – Mickey balloons, rose petals and a beautiful engagement ring – looking over Disney World from Disney’s Contemporary Resort balcony. He even had rented a Ring Cam!  It captured the whole proposal from Gordon’s point of view. We had so much fun with them and CAN NOT wait for their summer wedding in Toronto!

I asked Kristen how they met and how they got to Disney for their proposal: Gordon and I met through mutual friends, his cousin (Emily) and my best friend (Azalea) worked together and he arranged an outing with all his cousins and Emily invited Azalea who invited me and the rest was history! Gordon chose Disney World to propose because we are both huge Disney fans and our goal is to visit all the Disney resorts in the world. Disney World is the best one so he chose Orlando for the proposal. I initially thought I was going to a free family vacation paid by my mom’s company with my parents to Orlando so I was REALLY surprised when I walked into the room. From what I heard from Gordon he had been planning this Disney proposal for a very long time, endless consultations with his best friend, my best friend and our parents to pull it off.

Beth and Jake Engagement walk through Disney | Engagement Photography with The Canova’s Photography

I met Beth through her mother really – she was texting me from Connecticut for her daughter in Jupiter, trying to help her find a photographer for her wedding. I was in Sarasota visiting another bride that day and we texted most of the day, “Are you available that day? What do you think of Paradise Cove? What time would be a good time for the ceremony…?” Finally Beth and I met in person when she and her honey Jake met us Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Big Disney fans, we were friends right away, Beth and I talking wedding details and Courtney and Jake talking helicopters and airplanes. Thank you, you two for including us in your lives! We can’t wait for your wedding. xo

How they met in Beth’s words:“Jake and I met at work. We both saw each other across the room and kind of locked eyes and smiled. It took us a year after that moment to actually decide to date, but we always talk about that moment on my first day at work, locking eyes and smiling like… We knew it was something  special.  

The best thing we love about each other is that despite the age difference, we have so much in common and have both never had so much fun in our lives. We love our life together. He has allowed me to find a happiness that I didn’t know was possible.

ILY is short for I love you. My parents have said it to each other, written it on cards and letters for 45 years.. And we stole it from them. They are the happiest and most in love couple I know. It worked for them, I know it will work for us.”
