Jaclyn and James had a sweet, intimate wedding at the Artisan Alley Garage in historic downtown Deland. It featured their favorite things: Mexican food, Disney, Dole Whip, Live Music- 80’s Music and 90’s Alternative, etc. Elements of the decor feature things mentioned in the song “These are a few of my favorite things” from the Sound of Music – copper kettles, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, crisp apple strudel, brown paper packages tied up with string etc. Jaclyn always sang that song to their children at bedtime 🙂 See their Disney Engagement photos here. Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: Eclectic; merging a vintage feel with natural, rustic elements.
Favorite memory of the day: James- “Seeing Jaclyn come through the doors.” Jaclyn-“Having both of my late father’s, brothers there to walk me down the aisle”

Describe your wedding planning process Winging It
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Go with your first instinct and don’t overthink.
Anything you would have done differently? I would have sent out invitations. (I didn’t have time after we moved the date up) I plan to send out marriage announcements for those who couldn’t make it, when we get our pictures 🙂
Most memorable moment during the planning process– Running around the county with my girlfriends, searching for enough matching copper forks.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? All of us officially having the same last name and all the milestones the future holds.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? Photos that include our children.
What was your wedding inspiration? The song Favorite Things, from the Sound of Music.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them- We had a soft serve yogurt machine with Pineapple, Vanilla, and both Swirled. We recreated Dole Whip, one of our favorite Disney World treats.

Courtney and I were SO happy to be a part of Jennifer and David’s wedding. Jennifer is in hotel management and David is a musician and plays with the band Thomas Wynn and the Believers. We hit it off right away and had a great time photographing their engagement session (see it here.) Their DIY wedding was fun and easy. Lots of friends and family and a liquid nitrogen handcrafted gourmet ice cream station! So what more would you need!? Thank you Jennifer and David for including us! Describe your wedding planning process. Doing it ourselves was stressful at times but fulfilling after everything was over
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Hire a coordinator…just kidding, We made a point to stay at each other’s sides the whole night and not get separated and we are glad we did.
Anything you would have done differently? No
Most memorable moment during the planning process Buying Jen’s wedding dress because it made it feel real
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? Growing old together
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? For Jen it is seeing my face as she walked down the aisle, for me it is our photoshoot after the ceremony
What was your wedding inspiration? We didn’t want an overbearing theme that would dictate what people could or couldn’t wear. We tried to keep things simple and lightly refined because of that. It was important to us that our guests were comfortable and felt free to celebrate with us
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them Jen had the idea for using our childhood photos for the centerpieces and they turned out great. We really just winged it on the details and made it all work, and we’re glad that it did, like the flowers for the head table or the framed lace for the alter. We just found ideas that we thought we could execute and tried our best.

Darby has this amazingly great smile and laugh – we had so much fun with her and her fiancé Blake, playing on New Smyrna Beach for their engagement session. They are getting married in DeLand at Cafe Da Vinci‘s, (where Courtney and I got married!) Wedding planning by Courtney Ford Event Design <3

Blake and I met exactly where we are going to tie the knot, Cafe Da Vinci, I was the bartender, and he was a patron. We met years before actually going on a date (lord knows he tried to get me out on a date with him that entire time) but I always had a boy friend. Haha poor Mr. Blake! But, once I became single he jumped on the opportunity. Our first date was unlike any other date I had been on. He picked me up, got me flowers, opened the door, and from there on out I knew I was toast! I HAD FOUND THE ONE!!!! ??I look at him now and I see the rest of my life in his eyes. He is so kind, gentle, patient, forgiving, and loving. Words could never begin to explain the butterflies I get overtime he walks into the room. I’ve never been more ready for anything in my entire life! ???

Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: We kept the words ‘romantic’ and ‘whimsical’ in mind when making any decisions for the wedding.
Wedding day color scheme: Burgundy, blush, green, and ivory
Describe your wedding planning process: Pinterest became my best friend! I created boards for every part of the wedding (photography, florals, linens, etc…) and then after I felt like I had pinned everything there was to pin, I went through and deleted anything I didn’t absolutely love. I then showed the boards to my vendors and we went from there.
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Try not to stress out! I know everyone else is probably telling you the same thing, but that’s because it’s important! It might feel impossible, but you’ll probably end up feeling ridiculous for stressing so much on the day of after you and your husband/wife are married.
Anything you would have done differently? Yes! I would have stressed out less! And I also would have tried on a bunch more dresses. I love the dress I chose, but I think I committed too quickly just to get that part over with.
Most memorable moment during the planning process: Finally setting our date. We were engaged for over two years before we set our date so that was really exciting.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? We’re both bringing a lot of personal goals to the marriage so we’re both excited to see and help each other achieve them!
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? The first look!
What was your wedding inspiration? I followed a lot of wedding websites and blogs on social media (like SMP, BHLDN, etc…) and used the weddings that they featured as inspiration.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them: We loved every single detail of the day so much, it’s hard to pick a favorite!

We had so much fun with Heather and Dale, running around historic downtown DeLand for their engagement shoot. We can’t wait for their Bridle Oaks Deland Wedding! I asked them both to tell me what they love most about each other:

From Heather: Dale and I met at Northland while both serving in the same ministry about 3 1/2 years ago. The thing I love about Dale the most is his courageousness to be bold. When he asked me to marry him, he planned to have many of our friends and family present, like a surprise party. It is totally outside of his comfort zone and it was perfect – especially because I had NO idea!! On our wedding day we are both looking forward to celebrating with friends and family who will walk along side of us in our marriage. Our faith and trust in God brought us together and will keep us together!

From Dale: One thing I love about Heather is how tender hearted she is. When she’s been moved deeply she’s willing to be vulnerable within the moment to outwardly express how she’s feeling. She also LOVES the smell of books, how nerdy and awesome is that!
