Stacia and Kaden are so great together – we had so much fun with them for their engagement shoot out in the woods. Even got to them to juggle lemons! We can’t wait for their wedding in November planned by Kaden’s mother and our amazing friend Courtney Ford Event Design! xo
From Stacia: We were in high school and we met through mutual friends, we were just friends for about a year before we started dating in 2014. I love that Kaden has always shown so much love and care for me – anything I need he’s always there, and I love that no matter what we are doing we always have a good time. He’s pretty great ?
We can’t wait for Sara and Jimmy’s wedding this spring at the Danville B&B! Also excited to work again with a couple of our favorites – Courtney Ford Event Design and Julie from Lowe and Behold Floral Design 🙂
On Thanksgiving Day in 2012, Jimmy and Sara were both at Skydive DeLand for the annual dinner in the packing hangar. Sara was with her family when she spotted Jimmy across the hangar, taste-testing the smoked turkey he’d brought. They didn’t meet then, not until several days later when they both happened to be attending a concert in downtown DeLand at Cafe DaVinci. Sara recognized Jimmy from the Thanksgiving dinner and decided to introduce herself. After speaking for a few minutes, they found they had many mutual acquaintances (including Sara’s parents!).
While Sara grew up spending weekends at her mother’s drop zone, Skydive Palatka, she had no interest in skydiving until years later, choosing instead to study music in high school and college. Jimmy, on the other hand, earned his private pilot’s license when he was 17 and later moved from Maryland to Florida to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which is where he discovered skydiving. It was at Embry-Riddle that Jimmy met Sara’s dad (who also works in the aviation industry), nearly a decade before Jimmy and Sara met. In that time, Jimmy also met and got to know Sara’s stepfather, who was one of Skydive DeLand’s jump pilots.
After their first date (dinner at Oudom’s in downtown DeLand), for their second date Jimmy offered to fly the two of them to Jacksonville for dinner. After an eventful flight (it was an unusually foggy night, which led to a very exciting landing!), they both knew this relationship was something special. Aviation has continued to be an important part of their lives, as they both enjoy skydiving and both of their families are in some way connected to the aviation industry. Since the DeLand Airport is where they first crossed paths, it’s an especially meaningful location to them.?
Amanda and John wanted engagement photos at the beach with their sweet dog, and as the sun went down we realized we needed more time to do another photo shoot – this one in DeLand. We had a lot of fun 🙂 Congratulations Amanda and John!
From Amanda:
We met in January 2010 at Trine University in Math class. We studied in a group of 4, but instead John would text me all throughout the day. We didn’t date until a year and half later.
Every fall we had gotten pictures taken for our Christmas card pictures. October 26, 2015 shouldn’t of been any different. However our photographer took us to Trine Recreation State Park that day. We headed off to an area where I could barely walk. Our photographer told us to keep walking in front of him. John looked at me and said you’re missing something. I gave an extremely confused look, and he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry me. After several happy tears, I finally was able to finally say yes.
We can’t wait for Adrienne and John’s wedding at DeLand’s Cafe DaVinci (It’s where Courtney and I got married too!) We had a lot of fun taking their engagement photos at Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. The weather was so gloomy but it did not affect any of us. Congratulations Adrienne and John! From Adrienne:
People often ask me how John and I met. Honestly, I can’t remember! Living in a small town we’re always surrounded by familiar faces, and often those faces evolve into friendships. I can tell you, without question, that I loved him first. I remember the day, sitting in the court yard at Cafe da Vinci (also our wedding venue), that I saw him with new eyes and knew he was special. After that day, lots of texts, and the fortunate intervention of supportive friends, John saw me too. This July will be our 5 year anniversary. Our relationship has grown and developed over 3,000 miles and 2 states and we’re so excited to begin this next stage in our lives together. The theme of our wedding is family because we wouldn’t be here without them.
We had so much fun with Heather and Dale, running around historic downtown DeLand for their engagement shoot. We can’t wait for their Bridle Oaks Deland Wedding! I asked them both to tell me what they love most about each other:
From Heather: Dale and I met at Northland while both serving in the same ministry about 3 1/2 years ago. The thing I love about Dale the most is his courageousness to be bold. When he asked me to marry him, he planned to have many of our friends and family present, like a surprise party. It is totally outside of his comfort zone and it was perfect – especially because I had NO idea!! On our wedding day we are both looking forward to celebrating with friends and family who will walk along side of us in our marriage. Our faith and trust in God brought us together and will keep us together!
From Dale: One thing I love about Heather is how tender hearted she is. When she’s been moved deeply she’s willing to be vulnerable within the moment to outwardly express how she’s feeling. She also LOVES the smell of books, how nerdy and awesome is that!
