Fashion photo shoot at the studio with beauty Laura – we played with some projection – love the results!
We met KC about five years ago at an art gallery in downtown Orlando. We were drawn to her work right away. We bought two of her pieces that night and looking forward to having more of her work in our little local artists collection. We became fast friends, KC and Courtney took some figure drawing classes together and she hired us to do some commercial photography for the company she worked for. We loved that she wanted us to take her portraits and we loved being in her studio to capture her working. Thank you KC <3 You can see more of KC’s work here.
KC Cali is a representational artist in Orlando. Originally from Vermont, she moved here in 1999. KC earned a bachelor’s degree in illustration from Massachusetts College of Art and Design but turned to a career in graphic design after graduation. She didn’t begin painting until 2010 and now considers painting her second job. She has a day job and she told us that while it does cut in to painting time, it also allows her the freedom to paint what she pleases. Her favorite subject is the figure – the result of years of exclusively drawing from the figure at local life drawing sessions – and she’s currently working on pieces featuring people in the environment as an acknowledgement of the difficulty of presenting art of the nude locally.
We had so much fun with Heather and Dale, running around historic downtown DeLand for their engagement shoot. We can’t wait for their Bridle Oaks Deland Wedding! I asked them both to tell me what they love most about each other:
From Heather: Dale and I met at Northland while both serving in the same ministry about 3 1/2 years ago. The thing I love about Dale the most is his courageousness to be bold. When he asked me to marry him, he planned to have many of our friends and family present, like a surprise party. It is totally outside of his comfort zone and it was perfect – especially because I had NO idea!! On our wedding day we are both looking forward to celebrating with friends and family who will walk along side of us in our marriage. Our faith and trust in God brought us together and will keep us together!Â
From Dale: One thing I love about Heather is how tender hearted she is. When she’s been moved deeply she’s willing to be vulnerable within the moment to outwardly express how she’s feeling. She also LOVES the smell of books, how nerdy and awesome is that!
