Chelsea loves trees – big beautiful oaks trees – and wanted them incorporated in her engagement session and in her wedding. I think we found the perfect spot at Dickson Azalea Park in Orlando! Beautiful trees everywhere that complimented Chelsea and Joe’s strong love for each other. We can’t wait for their wedding – our first wedding of 2016! xo

We are so excited for Sarah and Sean’s wedding at a private farm in March! Their bohemian-inspired engagement photography shoot was a blast, complete with a 70s VW van and hippie-styled clothing from Dressed Boutique by Cam and props from Newfangled Modern Market styled by Courtney Ford Event Design. Flower crown made by me! Sean is an artist and teaches art part time at Stetson University. Sarah is a physician’s assistant in dermatology. They were so fun and sweet with each other! They met in Tampa at a local pub while Sarah was at UCF for undergrad studies and Sean was in grad school there. They have been engaged for almost five years and together for almost 9. They are excited to finally say their nuptials and spend the night partying with close friends and family! Sean and Sarah dated for about 4 years when Sean proposed under the Virginia Falls in Glacier National Park in Montana.
Hope you enjoy our favorites from their photo shoot!
When Matt called me from Texas and told me he wanted to propose to his beautiful girlfriend Brittany, he told me she thought airports were so romantic. When he landed in Orlando he decided he wanted to propose as soon as he got off the plane. And it was so romantic.
Thank you Matt and Brittany for including us in this wonderful celebration! <3
From Brittany: Matt and I have been friends for 12 years. Our love story is very much like the story line of “You’ve Got Mail.” We met in an AOL instant messenger chat room, and quickly became friends. For years, we talked, and kept in touch through school, moves, breakups and more. Then, one day we decided to meet. The rest is pretty much history. Matt’s airport proposal was like something straight out of a movie. I can’t believe he had a photographer there to capture it all! Everything about loving Matt, and being loved by him is like the fairy tale I always knew I deserved. I can honestly say I am marrying my best friend! Matt and I will say our vows in front of God, family and closest friends, during an intimate ceremony on February 26th, 2015, under a giant live oak tree, and we will celebrate with a barn reception. We can’t wait to start our life together as husband and wife!
I loved meeting Megan, a teacher, and her fiancée Hector to talk about their wedding at the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne. Megan and I talked dresses and shoes while Courtney and Hector talked bike racing. A perfect fit. I loved her handmade details, vintage feel and Tom’s wedding shoes. See below for some of Megan’s thoughts about her beautiful wedding and advice for brides-to-be.

Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: Vintage elegance Wedding day color scheme: Wisteria, ivory, and gray Describe your wedding planning process – I started with the venue and that set the slightly vintage feel for the day. The dress came next, which was more formal than I had expected wanting, so that helped set the tone for the remaining details. The rest was mostly about finding the least expensive way to get what I wanted, since we were working with an extremely tight budget. What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? Don’t be afraid to make decisions based on what YOU want. Don’t get talked into doing things because others say you just have to do this or have to have that. It can save you money and make the day a reflection of the two of you. Anything you would have done differently? The caterer agreed to make a dish not on their menu. Even though the sample they made was very good, on the day-of, that dish was pretty bad. It’s probably best to stick with what your caterer does best. Most memorable moment during the planning process: Putting on the dress that was the one! What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? Finally getting settled into our house, and then leaving it to travel – someday. Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? Our first-look photos! Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. The cake! Everyone commented that it by far the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. I was getting quotes of $1000 – $1500 we for something simple. Instead, we went with one of our favorite cakes – a round multi-layered chocolate masterpiece from Costco. We bought four, put three of them on cake stands of varying heights with some flowers on the table (one extra cake, just in case!), and it looked great! We had it served with fresh raspberries. The total cost for the cake and berries was less than $100. I also loved my shoes. I am not a frequent wearer of heels and I had a long staircase to descend, so I wanted a comfortable wedge. I discovered that Tom’s makes a shoe often used for weddings, in an ivory grosgrain. I love all of my regular Tom’s, so they were perfect!
Gordon, a physician, called me from Pittsburg to talk about his proposal to beautiful Kristen, an accountant who lives in Toronto. He was so sweet, so nervous, wanted his proposal to be perfect and wanted us there to capture it. Gordon had quite the set up for his proposal to Kristen – Mickey balloons, rose petals and a beautiful engagement ring – looking over Disney World from Disney’s Contemporary Resort balcony. He even had rented a Ring Cam! It captured the whole proposal from Gordon’s point of view. We had so much fun with them and CAN NOT wait for their summer wedding in Toronto!
I asked Kristen how they met and how they got to Disney for their proposal: Gordon and I met through mutual friends, his cousin (Emily) and my best friend (Azalea) worked together and he arranged an outing with all his cousins and Emily invited Azalea who invited me and the rest was history! Gordon chose Disney World to propose because we are both huge Disney fans and our goal is to visit all the Disney resorts in the world. Disney World is the best one so he chose Orlando for the proposal. I initially thought I was going to a free family vacation paid by my mom’s company with my parents to Orlando so I was REALLY surprised when I walked into the room. From what I heard from Gordon he had been planning this Disney proposal for a very long time, endless consultations with his best friend, my best friend and our parents to pull it off.

Despite the chilly and windy Fall day, we loved walking through historic DeLand for Lacey and Mike’s engagement session. It was a perfect backdrop for this sweet couple which included Courtney’s murals and the place where we got married, Cafe Davinci’s. Lacey and Mike were so sweet together and so quick to laugh. We even got to snap a few of their adorable son Zane. We can’t wait for their wedding! I asked them to tell us their story:
How we met:
Lacey – it was a normal night out with my best friend Rachele. We were at a local restaurant to see a local band. I saw this handsome gentleman from across the room and thought WOW!! A little after that I was told who he was and realized why he looked so familiar. On my way out of the restaurant, Mike stopped me and asked to take a picture with me. I of course was hesitant but gave in because of his amazing smile and persistent personality! After that, we went on our first date 4 days later and have been together ever since. I knew on that first date that this was the man for me. God sent me this man for a reason and I am thankful everyday that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
Mike – Like Lacey said, it was a normal night out at Pitmasters. You know that feeling when someone is staring at you (AKA) stalking you, yea that was a feeling I got that night. So what is a man supposed to do, well have your stalker take a picture with you. I grabbed her arm and said take a picture with me, and she looked at me like I was the stalking type. Well like she was going to deny a handsome guy a picture HAHAHAHA. I’ve come to realize that Lacey is an amazing woman and a best friend everybody should have, that’s what I have found in her. My life has been turned around so much since the good lord has put me with Lacey, I love like I have never loved before. Its a beautiful thing that two wonderful souls have found each other in this life. We now have a beautiful little boy Zane who made our lives complete. Thank you to the man upstairs for everything.
What we love about each other:
Lacey – I love Mike’s Laugh, his strength, his arms, his passion for his family, his smile. I love that he can be a goofball but also serious. I love that he protects his family. I love that he can make me laugh. I love that he makes me feel like I am the only person in the room. I love that he loves me for me. I love that he has made me a mother.
Mike – Lacey brings the best out in me, she keeps me grounded, she lets me be me, she is the best mother in the world to our son, last but not least her smile and her love towards me.
What we are looking forward most for our wedding:
Lacey – I am looking forward to walking down the aisle to meet the man of my dreams, to sharing the traditional vows and our own handwritten vows. To starting our life together as one
Mike – watching my soon to be wife walk towards me down the aisle. Listening to Lacey’s vows that she has written for me knowing that I have brought true joy to her life
What are you looking forward to the most for your life together:
Lacey – I am looking forward to raising our son Zane and growing old together. To learning more about each other every day and experiencing new adventures. To being there for one another through thick and thin and loving one another no matter what.
Mike – I love new adventures, knowing this is truly the best I will ever take. Waking up next to a beautiful woman everyday for the rest of my life. Watching our son Zane grow everyday into a man knowing that he will watch Mommy and Daddy love each other like there is no tomorrow. Teaching each other and Zane Love, Compassion, compromise everyday for the rest of our lives.
For Veterans Day we wanted to feature our summertime photo shoot with Natalie and Taylor. It was their first anniversary and we had so much fun with them running around The Plaza in Kansas City! I asked Natalie how she and Taylor met…
We met in Kansas while I was on vacation seeing my good friend Lindsey. We hit it off right away and started a long distance relationship since I lived in Florida and Taylor was stationed at fort Riley in Kansas. I ended up moving to Kansas and we got engaged and had a beautiful wedding in our home state of Florida. Taylor just recently got back from deployment where he was in Afghanistan for 9 months. We just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary in June and as part of the celebration had beautiful photos taken by the Canovas.

I was lucky enough to meet Kareema at a wedding event. Her charm, adorableness and infectious laugh drew me to her right away. As she told me about her her honey Nahshon and her wedding, really plans to elope, I felt even more lucky that she chose us to photograph it! The day they eloped was a happy one and we had a great time playing through Dickson Azalea Park and Stardust Coffee in Winter Park.
In Kareema’s words: Nahshon and I met at a potluck dinner at a mutual friend’s house, at the spades table. My spades partner and I were looking for our next pair of victims and Shon and his friend accepted our invitation, in the most confident “let’s show these ladies a thing or two” manner. After we annihilated them, Shon asked if we could keep in touch… 3 weeks later we went on our first date and have been inseparable since. 2 and 1/2 months later, Shon asked me to make him “the luckiest man in the world by becoming his wife”
Our decision to “elope” was a result of picking our wedding date coupled with our mutually unconventional nature. We knew from the beginning that we didn’t want a “White-Glove-Service” wedding with all the formalities, and with only 6 months to plan and understanding that most of both families would have to travel from Boston (Groom’s hometown) and New York City (Bride’s hometown), we opted to keep it small and not pressure everyone to attend. Our decision allowed us to set our focus on declaring our love for each other before God.
Every day that we wake up we thank Our Father for His mercy and grace, and for the gift of learning how to walk in His love and light. Through Him we look forward to growing closer as one flesh and pray that our love would always be a testimony to God’s love for the world. Our ultimate goal is to have a huge farm with more livestock and crops than we can count… A city slicker’s dream
