Love these Senior portraits of beautiful 2014 graduate Michaela! Contact us if you are interested in Oviedo Senior Portrait Photography.
I first met Leah when we did her sister Olivia’s Senior portraits. Both were swimmers extraordinaire for Oviedo High School and now students at Indian River State College. We had a lot of fun at this session -Leah is beautiful inside and out.

Shyanne called me from Oklahoma telling me that she loved our photography and wanted to do a senior portrait shoot on the beach during an upcoming family vacation to Florida. I was thrilled. She was sweet and articulate, she knew just want she wanted – including images of her running into the ocean in her lime green prom dress! We had a lot of fun that day, even with the threatening storms on the horizon.
As we talked, we learned that she was quite the accomplished student and had won many awards in her dance and cheerleading career – Awarded World’s Perfect Cheerleader Super Model Title, Currently Oklahoma’s Perfect Cheerleader State Title Holder, 1st runner-up at Triple Crown Outstanding Teen Pageant, 2nd runner-up Miss Enid’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, 3rd runner-up Miss Lawton’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, 4th runner-up Miss Altus Outstanding Teen Pageant (her talent consisted of an Acro-Jazz dance routine) to name a few! She also received the Platinum Fitness Award from President Obama for earning 1,000,000 points in fitness activities.
Thank you Shyanne, and to your mom and dad for letting us share a bit of your growing up. We can’t wait to see what you do next. xo

Every time I shoot a Senior Portrait Session I think to myself, “Oh I love doing this!” I think a lot of it has to do with the amazing seniors I meet.
Like Natalie.
So much fun, beauty, confidence, brilliance and positivity – I couldn’t help but be inspired by her.
Natalie goes to Winter Springs High School. In her words when applying to be my Senior Rep: “I define myself as a person with great charisma and energy and I feel that I have a smile that will capture anyone’s eyes. I am a very easy going person who takes feedback and criticism well to be able to apply myself better, I am also able to communicate and advertise well among my peers. I have varsity lettered in soccer, swimming, and water polo since freshman year and I also play on a club team for each of these sports, for soccer I played for what is now Orlando City but most recently play for FCAmerica, and for swimming and water polo the club is Oviedo’s Blue Dolphins. I also find time to achieve academic success by participating in National Honors Society, President-elect for Best Buddies-a community service based club at school, Latin Club, and National Junior Classical League, I also was apart of yearbook at my school during my freshman and sophomore year. Being apart of the yearbook staff taught me how to better communicate with people.”
Natalie hopes to go to Wagner College’s Physician Assistant program and has already been accepted to UCF, Stetson and UNF. Best of luck to you Natalie! But I don’t think luck has much to do with it… <3

I was lucky enough to have Carla and Natalia find me on Facebook and ask me to do a model shoot for them. Two beautiful sisters The Gonzalez Girls were amazing to work with – smart, funny and willing to try anything for a great photo. They have since moved farther south and I will miss them – Thank you both for such a fun shoot!
I asked Carla to tell me a little about herself and her sister:
Carla is 15 and is Sophomore Class President at Winter Springs High School. She is Cuban-American and born in Miami before moving to Winter Springs, FL. She has 3 younger sisters and enjoys doing community service. Carla is a leading team captain for the annual Winter Springs Relay for Life. She is on the girl's varsity golf team and is very outgoing. Carla is an outstanding student, taking part in many clubs at her school.
Natalia is 14 and like Carla, she is in student government and also services the community as a Relay for Life team captain. Born and raised alongside her older sister, she has always matched Carla in academics and club activities, yet she plays lacrosse rather than golf.
Carla and Natalia have been modeling for a little over a year. A friend introduced these sisters into modeling. They began modeling as a pair because of their similar appearances and eagerness to help each other learn to pose. They are not only Irish twins, but also best friends.
Carla and Natalia love to model because they love seeing themselves change in front of the camera . The two fancy the artistic aspect of modeling. Carla and Natalia both enjoy photography and the collaboration of creative ideas that go along with every shoot they do. They use modeling as an outlet to express themselves.
Carla and Natalia are always looking for new photographers to meet and work with. That so happens to be why they discovered Kelly Canova Photography on Facebook. The sisters hope to be in print one day! They look forward to showing girls that you don't have to be the perfect stereotypical model figure to get into modeling.
Halle is a beautiful 2013 Top 100 graduate from Oviedo High School – and someone I’ve known since she was a little girl. I can still see her and my daughter Devin playing dress up and jumping on the trampoline. She has grown up to be an amazing woman. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and the English Honor Society and captain of her nationally ranked school dance team. She is continuing dance this summer as a UDA Instructor where she will travel the country teaching high school dance teams. In the fall Halle will head to the University of Alabama to become a part of the Crimson Tide family majoring in Communications. We can’t wait to see what’s to come as her new chapter in life starts.

When I first started my photography business, one of the first things my daughter Devin and I talked about was her senior portraits. How much fun we would have, where we would go, what she would wear. We talked about it for a couple of years. I can’t believe how fast that time went by.
So we did have a lot of fun – we went to Sanford to our favorite and the coolest bookstore, Maya Books & Music in Sanford. Devin is a lover of all things literary, art, music and theater and we loved to peruse the great old finds there – so this was the perfect place for Devin’s portraits. Her sweetie Ryan tagged along too.
Devin graduated from high school last week. I am so crazy proud of her – not just for graduating but for her amazing talent, intelligence, beauty and (mostly) for her very big, kind heart. I am so lucky that she has gone from my little sweet girl to my really wonderful friend.
Devin – I have no doubt that you will conquer your goals and fearlessly pursue your biggest dreams. You are one-of-a kind, full of power and strength – and you love with your whole heart, which I really, really admire about you. Wherever you are in life, you can come home. I will be here – always. I love you.
