Holly called me about 4 years ago to photograph her maternity portraits – we were so excited! But then before our shoot, she called to tell me her daughter McKinley decided to make her grand entrance early!
So, here we are again. Holly called and said, “We are having a boy, William James. My daughter just turned 4 in October and she is very excited.” Very happy to report that we were able to have a very fun photo shoot with this sweet and beautiful family. Can’t wait to meet you Billy, Jr!
We loved this family shoot with one of our favorite families! We have been photographing Jenn, Scott and sweet little Scarlette since before she was born, starting with Jenn’s maternity shoot and every year after. This photo shoot was to celebrate Scarlette’s 4th birthday and they decided to go to the other happiest place on earth – Universal Studios Orlando. Scarlette was such an amazing model – full of fun and life, even sang a verse of “Single Ladies” for us <3 I can’t wait for our next photo shoot.

I love photographing models and everything fashion! These beautiful ladies – Twins Ashley and Kyra and their mother Lori – made my job easy for this family and portrait photo session. Both girls are excellent straight A students. Ashley runs track, plays guitar, paints, and has an eye for fashion. Kyra plays volleyball, loves to cook and read. Both would like to do some modeling and plan to go to college when they finish school. They also both love to travel and are fluent in Spanish. Can’t wait to see what is next for them xo.

I am so lucky to have such good friends – especially those like Rachel, a talented photographer (see Rachel V Photography here) who asked us to take photos of her and her husband Stephen (and don’t foget Sophie!) for their annual Anniversary portraits. Especially fun was to photograph Rachel with her baby bump – due in April! Happy Anniversary Rachel and Stephen and congratulations on your new beautiful family!

One of our privileges as Oviedo Photographers is watching children grow up through our lens. Isabelle is one our favorite models. We have been photographing her since she was a baby – these are some of my favorite portraits of her! They show her sweetest little four-year-old heart – whimsical, charming, finding joy in the littlest things like following a butterfly and chasing our cat, Prudence. I just clicked away as she just was being her sweet self.
Hope you enjoy these photos of her on this Christmas Eve! Happy Holidays Everyone xo
A Florida Christmas
T’was the night before Christmas, and all through the town,
No noses were frozen, nor snow on the ground.
No children in flannels were tucked into bed,
They all wore their shorty pajamas instead.
To find wreaths of holly was not very hard,
For holly trees sprouted in every backyard.
In front of the houses were daddies and moms,
Decorating hibiscus and coconut palms.
The slumbering kiddies were dreaming with glee,
Hoping to find surf boards under the tree.
They all knew that Santa was well on his way,
In a fiberglass boat instead of a sleigh.
He whizzed up the rivers, zoomed up the canals,
Delivering toys to good boys and gals.
The tropical moon gave the cities a glow,
And lit the way for Santa below.
Quite soon he arrived and started to work,
He hadn’t a second to linger or shirk.
He jumped from his boat and gave a wee chuckle,
He was dressed in deck pants, with an ivy league buckle.
There weren’t any chimneys, but that caused no gloom,
For Santa came in through the Florida room.
He stopped at each house but stayed only a minute,
As he emptied his sack of the toys that were in it.
Before he departed he had a long drink,
From the glass of fresh orange juice left by the sink.
He turned with a jerk and jumped into his boat,
Knowing that he still had more toys to tote.
He put it in Gear and he opened the gas,
Then up the Peace River he went like a flash!
And I heard him exclaim as he went on his way:
“Merry Christmas, Orlando, I wish I could stay
I feel like I have known Jenn, Scott and Scarlette forever. We met when I was a Drama Mama at Oviedo High School for my daughter Devin‘s Thespian career – Jenn was her wonderful Drama teacher there. I made promo photos and headshots of the kids for their performances. Jenn has always been a great supporter of mine – she refers me to her friends (See here best friends wedding here) and colleagues more than anyone else. We did their maternity photos, Scarlette’s newborn photos, her one-year photos and here – her two year old photos at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry. Scarlette has also modeled for a photo shoot we did at the Oviedo Mall – you might see her beautiful face on posters and signs there. Thank you Jenn and Scott for being good friends and for being such a good-looking family. For more information on Oviedo Family Photos, contact The Canovas Photography today!
We had a great couple of months full of beautiful family photo sessions. I LOVE the holidays – I get very sentimental. I am the one that cries even at the coffee and Publix commercials. But what always makes me teary is seeing so many wonderful families together for family portraits. Mothers and children, Fathers and sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, newly-weds, those that have been together forever. I love seeing them together and interacting with each other. Lots of smiling, laughing, chasing babies, barking dogs that are part of the family, getting the men to smile, people who laugh at my “squish-in!” commands, siblings that squeeze in tight. These relationships are what it is all about. I am so honored to be a part of it. Thank you to all our clients – who are really friends by the end. We so appreciate your support in 2010. Happy New Year everyone! 2011 is going to be a great year.

I feel like I have known Brittany forever. Her mother Pegi and I have been best friends…well, forever. When our kids were little they played together, like stair-steps at age 7, 8, 9 and 10. I can’t believe little sweet and pretty Brittany is now mother to beautiful Ella. She and her husband Bryan now have this wonderful little family.
The week they asked me to photograph Ella’s 3 month birthday, I had gone to a WPPI Road Trip show and was very inspired by family photographer Amber Holritz. She does these beautiful lifestyle family portraits, documenting families just living, interacting and loving each other. I kept thinking how wonderful they were and how I wanted Ella to one day have these photos and see how much she is loved.
Thank you Brittany, Bryan and Ella. I love your family.
