The 2nd Annual DeArt in DeLand Chair-ity Auction was a HUGE success! Thank you to our community sponsors and amazing artists.
A few of these beautiful chairs were purchased at our event and donated back to ACED for the public to enjoy. They will be placed throughout DeLand soon so be sure to keep an eye out.
The City of DeLand and the newly-formed non-profit organization – Arts, Culture,Entertainment District, (ACED) DeLand – hosted a fundraiser to benefit the City’s public arts programs.
The DeArt in DeLand Fundraiser Event was from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Sanborn Activity & Event Center, 815 S. Alabama Avenue. The event include music, beer & wine tastings, food and fun. Attendees had the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind chairs creatively altered by local artists.

The Museum of Art – DeLand hosts its annual fundraising gala for the 2020 season. The Wonderland Ball celebrates our newest exhibition, Wonderland: Photographs by Kirsty Mitchell, opening in January 2020.
Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Artisan Alley Garage for an enchanted evening of fairy tale proportions. Featuring:
– Storybook bar & hors d’oeuvres by The Table
– Music & dancing all evening
– Special viewing of Wonderland: Photographs by Kirsty Mitchell
Dress with a fairy tale twist if you wish. (And we don’t just mean Alice in Wonderland.) All proceeds will support the world-class exhibitions and educational programs at the Museum of Art – DeLand. We have worked a lot of weddings with Julia, she is the best florist! We are also great friends with her and her fiancé Brian and very excited for their wedding in Italy!
We have SO much fun photographing proposals at Disney! So much love and happiness! Will had it all planned out to propose to lovely (and Ariel Princess-like) Brooke, and we were there to document the surprise. They are so sweet and Brooke was so surprised! Of course, she said yes 🙂
It all started when Will’s father called me to check on availability. Then a few phone calls back and forth with Will – “how does this all work?” We can always help you with the planning of your proposal! We know it can be confusing and overwhelming, especially coming in from out of state.
We decided to meet at the Cinderella Wishing Well, a perfect spot in the shadow of the castle. We knew what they were wearing and Will and I texted our whereabouts to each other. Finally, they came around the corner and Will got down on one knee. Brooke was so happy and stunned!
We made our way through Mainstreet, The Purple Wall, Cinderella Castle and Mickey’s Toontown. Will and Brooke were easy going and easy to photograph. We all had a great day!

The 11th Annual DeLand Beer Festival features over 100 suppliers of beer, wine, cider, mead, and spirits with a focus on locally owned businesses. With over 400 different options to choose from there is something for everyone. Sample from everyday favorites, seasonal beers, special release brews, vintage beers, homebrew and more. Live music and presentations on the main stage along with food and craft vendors to round out the experience.
DeLand Beer Festival is located in Historic Downtown DeLand on East Indiana Avenue. Tickets are an all access pass to unlimited samples, live music by Ancient Sun, presentations by craft beer experts, and demonstrations by local artisans.

My name is Kelly Canova and my husband Courtney and I are artists living in the great city of DeLand, Florida. Recently I’ve seen artists all around the world who have found small ways to give back during this unprecedented season in our culture and I want to do my part. As a photographer, I know that the best gift I can give to my community is to document our new normal. Part art project, part community service, this experiment is about capturing what makes our town so special: the people. This series is a collection of family portraits that remind us that while we cannot control the things happening out in the world, we can find peace and joy in the moments we spend in our homes with the people we love most. l love this town, and I want to gift you with the memories of these long days and nights spent with your loved ones.
DeLand residents: Let me know if you would like to take part in our project! The photos are a gift and images will be sent to your family digitally. Each shoot will take about 5 minutes and will be shot from at least 10 feet away, applying the current CDC approved guidelines for social distancing. We love our boudoir shoots! Especially with this beauty in black and white! This model contacted us through model Model Mayhem,a place for models, photographers, fashion industry to interact, book shoots, and find each other. She used to be a model and wanted to upgrade her portfolio. We are so happy she called us! She was easy to work with and was a great model for her boudoir portfolio.

Beautiful Hannah is a senior at DeLand High School and wants to study Political Science. We had a very fun photoshoot on a lovely evening. Hannah wanted to shoot in Historic Downtown DeLand where some of the iconic places like the historic county courthouse and the Athens Theater mean something to her as she worked in both places. My favorites are of her on top of the staircase at the courthouse!

Alexandra and Sean are the sweetest couple! They came all the way from Ohio to Disney’s Magic Kingdom for a special engagement shoot! So happy they called us to be there.
Alexandra and I talked about outfits and I sent her a few ideas. (We are always available to help plan your engagement shoot!) I loved the beautiful red dress that she choose! It went perfectly with Disney backdrops and Mickey balloons. And her nails! Perfectly done to show off her new engagement ring.
I love to meet and start taking photos upstairs in the Main Street Train Station. It is always pretty quiet there, very few people and always has the best light. We then traveled down Main Street catching cool doorways, holding Mickey balloons and to Disney’s amazing candy store, the Main Street Confectionery. Alexandra and Sean had fun there, picking out their favorite Disney character on lollipops and looking for cute Disney mugs. One of my favorite photos I took is one of Disney candy maker employees acting silly. They are always great there!
Outside The Plaza Restaurant are bright yellow chairs and tables with cute umbrellas. Alexandra looked so cute there in her red dress, especially when she did a few twirls for the camera. Cinderella Castle in the background was a good backdrop as always.
Then we went over to the famous Purple Wall on the way to Tomorrowland. This spot has been a favorite of our clients for a long time, some people have never seen it or never knew it was there, so this is a fun one for great photos.
Finally of course, Cinderella Castle. Alexandra and Sean looked so cute playing, dancing and even a dance big dip right up front! Good move by Sean 🙂 Courtney and I had a lot of fun with these two. Congratulations!
