We had so much fun shooting Erin and Nathan’s engagement session at Fort Hunter Park overlooking the Susquehanna River. Erin is the step-daughter of my college roommate, Paula, who is one of my most favorite people in the world. Erin and Nathan – thank you for such a fun afternoon – we are so happy for you both and so excited for your wedding xo

We were so happy to have the opportunity to photograph this beautiful red Vera Wang dress during an inspiration shoot at The Art & History Museum in Maitland. I’ve loved anything Vera Wang since my fashion design school days – would you wear a red wedding dress?
Check out this CBS interview with this wonderful designer.
Thank you to the amazing people who made this possible:
I was lucky enough to have Carla and Natalia find me on Facebook and ask me to do a model shoot for them. Two beautiful sisters The Gonzalez Girls were amazing to work with – smart, funny and willing to try anything for a great photo. They have since moved farther south and I will miss them – Thank you both for such a fun shoot!
I asked Carla to tell me a little about herself and her sister:
Carla is 15 and is Sophomore Class President at Winter Springs High School. She is Cuban-American and born in Miami before moving to Winter Springs, FL. She has 3 younger sisters and enjoys doing community service. Carla is a leading team captain for the annual Winter Springs Relay for Life. She is on the girl's varsity golf team and is very outgoing. Carla is an outstanding student, taking part in many clubs at her school.
Natalia is 14 and like Carla, she is in student government and also services the community as a Relay for Life team captain. Born and raised alongside her older sister, she has always matched Carla in academics and club activities, yet she plays lacrosse rather than golf.
Carla and Natalia have been modeling for a little over a year. A friend introduced these sisters into modeling. They began modeling as a pair because of their similar appearances and eagerness to help each other learn to pose. They are not only Irish twins, but also best friends.
Carla and Natalia love to model because they love seeing themselves change in front of the camera . The two fancy the artistic aspect of modeling. Carla and Natalia both enjoy photography and the collaboration of creative ideas that go along with every shoot they do. They use modeling as an outlet to express themselves.
Carla and Natalia are always looking for new photographers to meet and work with. That so happens to be why they discovered Kelly Canova Photography on Facebook. The sisters hope to be in print one day! They look forward to showing girls that you don't have to be the perfect stereotypical model figure to get into modeling.
Courtney and I just visited one of our favorite places in the world: the Big Apple. We hurt ourselves walking, eating too much and seeing way too much (is there such a thing…?) art. And most importantly, our sons Alex and Jeremy who live in Brooklyn. One night we went with my wonderfully talented son Alex (of The Lighthouse Theater Company) to some amazing improv put on by talented friends Lindsay and Kiki. Courtney took some fun shots here…
Wonderfully talented actors: Lindsay Calleran and Kiki Mikkelsen
Matt Rubano and Claire Downs
Rekha Shankar and Amelia West
Jake Keefe
Amey Goerlich and TJ Del Reno
Oriel and Brian’s wedding was one of a kind, just like they are. Her smile lit up the room – especially after Brian made her laugh, which was often. So elegant – black and white, with more orchids than you can count. Wonderful family that traveled far and best friends from Penn State days. We were so honored to be a part of it.Thank you Oriel and Brian for making us a part of your amazing wedding day.
Halle is a beautiful 2013 Top 100 graduate from Oviedo High School – and someone I’ve known since she was a little girl. I can still see her and my daughter Devin playing dress up and jumping on the trampoline. She has grown up to be an amazing woman. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and the English Honor Society and captain of her nationally ranked school dance team. She is continuing dance this summer as a UDA Instructor where she will travel the country teaching high school dance teams. In the fall Halle will head to the University of Alabama to become a part of the Crimson Tide family majoring in Communications. We can’t wait to see what’s to come as her new chapter in life starts.

We had a lot of fun at the first Curated Market in Artisan Alley put on by the fabulous New Fangled Market. There were many amazing hand picked, hand made, vintage, and artist made vendors, There were Food Trucks and live music at Cafe DaVinci all day. Courtney showed some work there and we met some wonderful artists. My dear friend Shipra and I bought some art and walked around the town snapping shots – Here are some of my favorites.
If you are interested in having a space in the market email Courtney Ford Hamil at: newfangled.deland@gmail.com
We loved Tricia and Jonathan’s vintage, seaside wedding at The Hammock Dunes Resort that included lots of pink and blue, antique brooches and a candy ring-pop wedding ring. They had a big fun wedding party and wonderful friends and family there. So lucky to be able to see them all again at Tricia’s sister Stephanie’s wedding in September!

Courtney and Meagan’s father Tim have been friends for a long time, you’ll see them showing their work at arts festivals and talking the day away. We were so happy when Meagan asked us to photograph her wedding to JR at The Chapel in the Garden. Such a beautiful venue for such a beautiful couple. We loved their family and friends, centerpieces with books and hand-made-by-her-dad ceramic bowls. Love to you Meagan and JR and to the start of your new family.
