Loved photographing this event with a fashion presentation of the Roberto Cavalli Spring Collection at the Mall of Millenia yesterday. Amazing fashion, beautiful models and a fun champagne-filled afternoon at Neiman Marcus Orlando.
I was so happy to get a call from Abigail to talk about a Trash the Dress session for her and her husband Joel. The New York couple was visiting family in Florida and wanted to do a shoot for their 5th year wedding anniversary in Cocoa Beach. Though we had never met, we all felt like we had been friends for a long time. Abigail and Joel were so sweet with each other, loving and romantic but also funny – there was lots of laughing. I felt like they had a secret that only the two of them understood. They made our job quite simple.
Joy and Gabe are a sweet California couple finishing their Chiropractic internship. We loved their passion, styling and the way they looked at each other. We had so much fun at Winter Park’s The Alfond Inn for their engagement session! We can’t wait for their Casa Feliz wedding next month.
From Joy: They met at Palmer College in January 2011 where they happened to sit next to each other. They always say be careful because you never know what might happen to the person you sit next to…
She said no…I don’t like you (even though they had gotten along so well). But what she didn’t know what was that he had already taken her heart.
She really meant YES and couldn’t hide from the fact that she was love struck. She took her place in his heart and showed him how much she cared for him.
So he showed her what his love was really about and that it could also come with a glass slipper.
So LOVE is…What they decided to share. Together forever… Just the two without a care…
Courtney and I had the most wonderful wedding anniversary last November, our 6th. We spent it with 20 new amazing friends and 2 we knew well – Yvonne and Eric. We were all on the wonderful Fantasy Disney Cruise for their wedding! We were so honored to be there and to photograph their beautiful wedding. They treated us like family which meant so much to us. We’ve had two other shoots with them, an engagement shoot in Florida and one in New York, both so much fun and just re-enforced our friendship. Getting to meet and spend days on a cruise with them and their friends and family was icing on the wedding cake! Thank you Yvonne and Eric for including us in your lives. We are so lucky and honored to be there xo
I asked Yvonne and Eric to give us some insights on their Disney Cruise Wedding – in their words: Planning our wedding was surprisingly really simple. The two of us enjoy cruising very much and it was an easy decision to do a cruise wedding. I think I can speak for the both of us that we enjoy the company of our close friends and family very much. Because of that, we wanted them to also enjoy our wedding and hopefully make it as their own vacation.
Choosing a cruise line wasn’t that hard either. I always wanted to sail with Disney but never could justify the cost for a week long cruise. Disney had to be for something special and something that would make me disregard the cost entirely. It is the best decision we made. Disney just made everything so much easier. That’s why I said planning our wedding was really simple. They took care of almost everything. Flowers, cake, champagne flutes, music… and of course Disney’s unbelievable customer service. They really go up and beyond for you. Aside from the cruise line planning guide, I added some extra detail to make it more personal to us. Instead of ordering all fresh flowers for the groomsmen and bridesmaids, I ordered silk flowers from Etsy for them. It was fraction of the price if I were to get fresh flowers from Disney. Best thing about the silk flowers, you can keep it for as long as you like. They turned out so beautiful and real looking. We also gave our guests little tote bags with goodies in it to use for the cruise. It’s our thank you/ favors for them.
Every day/night on the cruise has been amazing. I think what made it so incredible is the fact that we had 25 of our closest friends and family with us on this amazing week long vacation. We were so overwhelmed and grateful that they took time off just to be there for us. It really is….there’s really no words to express how great they all are. To ask us what our favorite thing about the cruise is, it’s hard to give you one thing. We loved everything about it. From the rotation dinners, to pirate’s night, and knowing some of our friends were stalking their favorite cabaret singer. Speaking of which, our pianist, Cara Oman (the bridal party’s favorite cabaret singer) for the wedding ceremony was fantastic. We were so pleased to find out that she was going to play the piano and sing at our wedding. Actually I think the bridal was more ecstatic than we were. I mean they really stalked her, haha. But if I really had to choose a moment to stop time, it would be that very moment when I walked up to the aisle with my dad by my side, and me seeing Eric standing up, there waiting for me with that smile of his, being surrounded by everyone we love. You can just feel all that love and happiness just radiate off everyone. I tear up just thinking about it now.
This is one of those events in life that you can never forget, at least not for us. We will always treasure the memories we had on this wonderful cruise and we will always be thankful to have just wonderful friends and family. They mean the world to us and our wedding wouldn’t be that amazing without them.

When Megan contacted me about an engagement session, we connected right away – she told me this wonderful story of how she, from San Diego, and Luke, from London, met on a cruise and how they have been apart because of visa issues and how much they loved Disney. We met at Leu Gardens and the four of us had so much fun getting to know each other and talking about their beautiful Disney wedding. Which is now a Disney Cruise Wedding – which is perfect for them! We are so so excited!
Below is Megan and Luke’s Love Story, in her words:
Luke and I met February 2009 while we both were working for Princess Cruises in Australia. Luke was working as an officer on the bridge and I was working in the crew office. I actually was the one that got all of Luke’s documentation together before he embarked to begin his contract. Luke and I instantly became good friends and often talked about our goals and dreams for the future. I lived in San Diego and Luke lived just outside of London so Facebook was a huge part of how we stayed in touch with each other. It was not until September of 2013 that Luke and I would see each other again when my mom and I went to London. Luke and I had a wonderful evening in London and it really felt like no time at all had passed since we had seen each other. It was an incredible evening and one that we both hoped would never end. We made a promise to each other that we would not let four years go by again without seeing each other. Luke and I also became closer friends by supporting each other over the tragic loss of my dad and Luke’s mom to cancer. We truly believe that our angels had a big part in bringing us together! Late November I had this vivid dream that Luke and I began dating and at the end of the dream got married. A few days later I finally got the courage to message Luke and let him know that I had a crush on him and had since I had met him. To my surprise and shock, Luke felt the same way I had since we first met but never thought I would’ve felt the same way. We began dating that December and later that month Luke surprised me and flew out to see me while I was vacationing in Orlando. We had our first kiss during that trip in Walt Disney World and also said we love each other for the first time. We instantly knew that we had found our soulmates, it truly is amazing how a man that I had always seen as a good friend was truly the man of my dreams and the love of my life. On the evening of January 6th, 2014 while on vacation in Walt Disney World, Luke proposed to me while we were having dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table. As dessert was supposed to be coming out, instead a platter came out with a glass slipper on a bed of roses, it was engraved with “Dreams Do Come True” and Luke got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! I still cannot believe how thoughtful and romantic he was, knowing I had always wanted to get engaged in Walt Disney World. Although most of our relationship has had to be spent with each of us being in a separate country, this has only made us stronger, fall more madly in love and appreciate the time we have together so much more. We truly cannot wait for our wedding to celebrate our love with our family and friends!!

I was so happy when Stacy called me to talk about her wedding, She and her honey Steve met through a mutual friend, the same friend that introduced Tania & Axel, another one of our wonderful couples – so she is quite the matchmaker. When we met, Steve and Courtney immediately started talking about bikes and trails and found out we are all avid bikers! They love to spend time outdoors, preferably doing something active at the beach or lake. They love to bike and paddleboard. They look forward to indulging their passion for travel and try to combine that with cycling whenever possible. Steve proposed to Stacy at home on a Tuesday night so he turned an ordinary week night into a very special evening.
Thanks for a fun day Stacy and Steve, in St. Augustine – one of our favorite cities! We can't wait for your wedding there.
My Fashion Designer soul was singing as I photographed the event for Neiman Marcus Orlando that was in celebration of the Orlando Ballet’s 40th Anniversary Gala! Neiman Marcus Orlando, Harriet Lake, Tricia Earl and Josie NeJame presented this historic fashion and cultural event with an amazing display of Vintage Christian Lacroix Ballet costumes. The costumes are on loan from American Ballet Theater and will also appear at the Orlando Ballet Gala, Exposé on February 8th. Don’t miss the chance to see them! On display in the windows at Neiman Marcus until January 31st. Orlando Ballet Artistic Director: Robert Hill.

Meeting with Tania and Axel was so nice – we talked about their wedding and how they wanted it to be and what kind of photos they loved. Our Engagement Session was kind of a test to see if our photos were what they wanted and how we all worked together. We had so much fun going to where Axel proposed and after a stormy hour and trying to shoot in the rain, a beautiful sunset became our backdrop. These are a few of our favorites for their Winter Park Engagement shoot – And we passed the test 🙂
Their proposal in Tania’s words: Axel said that we should have a nice dinner and asked me to choose the restaurant from a list of my favorites that he offered (hmmm). I chose Hillstone (which used to be Houston’s) because of it’s scenic lake setting. We had a beautiful dinner right by the window to the lake. Then, after dinner, we walked outside and found some chairs in a quiet, although rather dark, spot. We reminisced for a little bit, and then he said that he wanted to give me something. He then pulled out the box and asked me if he should get on his knee. I said that it depended on what was in the box and if he was going to ask me something. He said yes, and I told him to proceed to his knee. Then he asked if I would marry him. Here’s where it gets really funny. It was pitch dark by this point and he tried to open the box as he asked, but couldn’t tell which way was front. Then I couldn’t see it, and he kept asking me if I liked it — so after all that and a couple jokes about bringing a flashlight, he sat back down next to me, when I realized that I had not said “yes”. So I calmed down (lots of tears) and told him I would love to marry him. We returned to Hillstone for our engagement pictures.
I am so lucky to have such good friends – especially those like Rachel, a talented photographer (see Rachel V Photography here) who asked us to take photos of her and her husband Stephen (and don’t foget Sophie!) for their annual Anniversary portraits. Especially fun was to photograph Rachel with her baby bump – due in April! Happy Anniversary Rachel and Stephen and congratulations on your new beautiful family!
