Marissa is an amazing high school senior from Oviedo High School. She was so much fun to photograph, she was having fun too so I think that was the best part. I did her sister Natalie’s senior portraits a couple of years ago (see Natalie here) and she joined us for some great sister shots. Thank you Marissa – I am so happy to be a part of your senior year xo
Courtney and I had so much fun shooting this beautifully styled photo shoot – Inspired by the Pantone Color of the year Marsala, an incredible wall of flowers, hand-lettered menu cards and an exquisite hand-painted cake. Such amazing bold color and talented wedding professionals made this styled shoot one of our favorites so far. Lead by Annie Muniz, (see her musings and others below) we had a perfect backdrop to show off everyone’s talents and a gorgeous wedding dress. Contact ustoday for more information!
From Annie Muniz:
As a Wedding and Event Planner, I am always so excited to find out what the Pantone color of the year will be – and this year they selected a dramatic rich wine color – MARSALA.
Using this color as our inspiration we put together a luxurious styled shoot representing this beautiful color through different mediums. Notice the amazing details in linens and china with handmade stationary in this color scheme. As the trends in wedding cakes lean towards hand painting, we chose one that not only defines this but also is harmonious to Pantone’s color choice.
All these are matched by the opulence of all the floral on the center pieces, the Chuppah, and lanterns – not to mention the stunning bouquet carried by the bride.
In recent years outdoor weddings have depicted a rustic or vintage feel, but with this rich color the outdoor wedding emanates an unexpected romantic elegance. This striking couple shows how beautiful these rich colors and details can bring a gorgeous look to the already stunning outdoor views of this spectacular venue and its grounds.
The delicate and carefully crafted gown worn by the bride was just perfect. Her Mediterranean skin tone, makeup, and hair enhance her already stunning glow and beauty. The groom styled a striking black tuxedo keeping in tune with the elegance of the theme.

We loved Sarah and Sean’s wedding so much! A lot of love, beauty and DIY. They made so many beautiful elements themselves, including boutonnieres made from buttons, the ceremony pews and their bar. We knew when we photographed their amazing Hippie-inspired engagement shoot that they were our kind of couple, and they treated us like friends right away. My favorite part of this day was when they read their handwritten vows to each other – just the two of them – during their first look. So sweet and romantic. Love to you both Sarah and Sean – cheers to a wonderful life together xo
Describe your wedding day style in one sentence– I think our style is relaxed, eclectic and vintage, our personalities showing through.
Wedding day color scheme– Red and Mint for the bridesmaids but generally no color scheme for the rest of the wedding, I wanted it to be a collections of colors with the flowers to complement our beautiful surroundings of the farm. I didn’t want things to be too “matchy matchy”.
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day? To take your time the day of to take it all in. Enjoy every moment even if things don’t go as planned, embrace it. It’s just a party, the important thing is that you realize why you’re having this special party and that you are spending the rest of your life with someone you love and want to party with forever.
Anything you would have done differently? Ordered less cupcakes and more alcohol. We had to send someone on a liquor run because we were running out. Our friends must love to drink =)
Most memorable moment during the planning process– My most memorable moment would be our awesome Bohemian engagement photo shoot. They really showed our personalities and it was so much fun!
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple? To continue experiencing life and adventures together.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos?ALL OF THEM!!! It will be neat to see a lot of the candids but I can’t wait to see some of our couple shots together too.
What was your wedding inspiration? We basically wanted the wedding to be fun, energetic, and less traditional. We wanted the decor to be eclectic with vintage collectibles while incorporating the rustic backdrop of the farm. Most of the wedding vendors and set up was provided by friends. This made our wedding day even more special because the people we care about and who care about us were in charge of all the important details. Our wedding planner is a close friend and we used her family’s farm. We borrowed all of our vintage antiques from friends, had a cookie bar with cookies from local family and friends, our food was provided by our close friends that own a BBQ food truck, our music was even from a Band that we know from Jacksonville and we had a surprise band at the end of our wedding by our close friends.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. I loved all of the vintage collectibles that our friends let us borrow. They brought so much character to our wedding. I collect buttons so I used them in the groomsmen’ boutonnieres. My husband and his close friend built the ceremony benches and the rustic bar. Another sentimental touch. We used our old couch as the center for the Photo Booth with the backdrop of the farm. at one point before all of the music the horses would walk up.

When Courtney and I first met Libby and Scotty for their engagement shoot they said something like, “We don’t like kissy, lovey photos.” Um. OK, I always take lovey photos, so what to do? We just stood back and let these two be themselves and do whatever they wanted. I don’t think I have laughed this hard at a shoot in a while – they had their own great ideas, props and costumes – we loved it and had so much fun.
Thank you for amazing styling Courtney Ford Event Design and wardrobe by Cam from Dressed Boutique.
I asked them how they met. This is what they wrote: Our fairytale is a little unorthodox, but it has made for one amazing ride so far! We can wait to see where it takes us next. Thanks to Kelly and Courtney, we had an amazing shoot where we felt free to be ourselves and have lots of fun as always!!!
It was a cold and windy night in the small village known as New Smyrna Beach when The Beauty and the Beast came to meet. She, in her red blouse with wavy blonde locks and him barefoot and older. Thanks to a mutual friend named BJ and a common musical interest in Jim James, they both decided to swim in the same river for awhile. There sure were some big rocks on that rough whitewater, but they finally crawled into a sturdy boat on some smoother, calmer water and decided to make the bond permanent. Knowing full well it’ll get rough again, as long as they have each others back and don’t forget the paddle, they can navigate any rough course…

Jesse and Sam were taking a Florida vacation holiday recently from Canada and wanted to get together for an engagement shoot in Orlando while they were here visiting. So nice to have met them both after many emails and phone calls coordinating a location and ideas. These portraits are some of Courtney and my favorites of these two sweet lovebirds that we took at Dickson Azalea Park. xo

When Jeff, a lawyer from Tallahassee, called me to ask if we would photograph his proposal to his beautiful girlfriend Brittany, also a lawyer, we were thrilled. We were even more excited to find out that the proposal would be on a private balcony at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. After a romantic dinner, Jeff got down on one knee and proposed right as the fireworks were shooting over the park. Brittany, of course, said yes. Thank you Jeff and Brittany for including us on this perfect evening! Disney Grand Floridian | Disney Proposal Photography | The Canovas ~ Contact us today for more information!
We’ve known Mackenzie for a long time – we watched her and her twin sister Morgan dance in the high school play and photographed their senior portraits. We were so happy to hear of her engagement to Beau, (see their engagement session here) a middle school history teacher. Their wedding was so fun – complete with nitro ice cream and the best father-daughter dance I’ve seen (you gotta see it.) Not to mention her gorgeous, backless, Galia Lahav gown and incredible fireworks grand finale. They love to travel – their wedding table numbers were of all the wonderful places they have been together. Thank you Mack and Beau – here’s to many years of adventure together xo
Describe your wedding day style in one sentence: Rustic Sophistication with a flare of fun!
Wedding day color scheme: Navy blue with accents of powder blue, natural whites, earthy greens, and wood-tone browns
Describe your wedding planning process: It was a rush of activity at the beginning of the engagement 1 year and 3 months before the date booking the big stuff. Then there was a lull during which Beau and I moved, and then there was a second wave of detail and logistics planning 2 months before the wedding. There were so many details at the end, but it is worth the effort.
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day?1) Do as much as you can in advance. (There’s always more to do than you imagined) That way, you can truly sit back and watch the magic happen around you. 2) Do everything you can to make your wedding unique to you: add personal or sentimental touches. Sharing something special with your guests makes your wedding memorable. 3) Don’t worry about people having a good time. You’re getting married to your best friend. That’s AWESOME (and all that really matters).
Anything you would have done differently? I wish I recorded the seamstress bustling my dress. My mom was watching her, but I knew it would be hard to remember. Both my wedding planner and mother struggled for about 30 min during cocktail hour to make it stay in some sort of bustled form. I started to get antsy and Beau started feeding me crackers and cheese, which helped. Regardless of their initial effort, the dress kept coming undone throughout the night until my wedding planner safety pinned it up–people kept stepping on it and killing my dance party vibe.
Most memorable moment during the planning process:When I found an article that encouraged brides to add personal touches to their wedding on pinterest with all sorts of sentimental ideas. For example, it inspired me to work with my stationary vendor to create table assignments and markers based on our travels, not numbers. I mean, teaching my dad a dance to Turn Down for What was pretty memorable too, haha.
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?Going on adventures with my best friend.
Which moment are you the most excited to see in photos? My dress being sexy and awesome, and group photos with my favorite people.
What was your wedding inspiration? I was inspired by Beau and my’s love of nature and traveling (i.e. Ireland and Alaska) foremost. We were inspired by the simple elegance of an outdoor wedding, but my performance background bumped up the party: over-the-top father daughter performance w/ streamers and CO2 cannons, and fireworks finale.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them. 1) I loved the personalized table numbers and art. It took a lot of effort, but I was very proud of the result.
2) People were blown away by the fireworks show, and it took a lot of work to make it happen. My DJ said he could pull it off, and lo and behold he was good to his word and I danced to Fireworks by Katie Perry on my wedding day!
3) I didn’t mean for this to happen, but the mementos I made for my parents ended up on the bar top for everyone to see. They were little customized photo cubes with old pictures of myself with either my mom or my dad. I was so touched to see them placed there, openly sharing our love with our guests. My parents do so much to make sure my life goes well; my wedding day was no exception. I am so thankful for such strong parents–I love them!
